Very chewy pearls, good size, quick to prepare and ideal for home bubble tea
I bought these Wu FuYuan black tapioca pearls for making bubble tea at home and ended up buying two bags, which probably says enough on its own. The biggest advantage is how quick and easy they are to prepare. These are pre-cooked pearls, so you don’t have to deal with the long cooking times and soaking that dry tapioca pearls require. They’re ready in minutes, which makes spontaneous bubble tea far more practical. Size is spot on for bubble tea. The pearls are consistent and large enough to give that proper boba experience without clogging wide straws. Texture is excellent as well. Once cooked, they’re very chewy with the right amount of bounce. They also take on syrup well. When mixed with brown sugar syrup, they coat nicely and become pleasantly sticky without clumping together or turning into a solid mass. They hold their texture and finish well if prepared correctly. Overall, these are high-quality tapioca pearls that are convenient, well sized, and reliable. Great for home bubble tea and especially good if you want something quick without sacrificing texture.

Very good
Amazing value for money. Takes only 2-3 minutes on the stove or in the microwave to cook it. It softens well on the inside, still chewy but not hard. It’s tasteless on its own, so I often add a spoon or two of sugar when cooking it to make it sweet.

Perfect for homemade bubble tea
These tapioca pearls are amazing. They’re easy to cook at home and come out with the perfect chewy texture..soft on the outside with a satisfying bite, just like you’d get in a bubble tea shop. The instructions are clear and simple, which makes the process really straightforward. Once cooked, they hold their texture well and absorb flavour beautifully, especially when soaked in sugar syrup or added to milk tea. The quality is excellent and they taste fresh, not starchy or bland! If you enjoy making bubble tea at home, these are a must have! Such a fun and delicious product..I’ll definitely be buying them again!

Overall good for price!
I’m not an expert with boba teas or working with tapioca pearls, that being said they taste pretty good. The only thing I have to critique is the fact that they aren’t as dried out as other brands I’ve brought from, so when these came vacuum packed they kinda squashed and deformed one another, so in terms of aesthetics and how they look not great but otherwise function as they should, maybe a bit softer than other but you can just boil them for a shorter time than usual to fix that.

Great
Great product, easy to use (I always did it on the hob so not very quick but allows time to make the milk tea) and always gives a good result that tastes delicious.

Quality tapioca
They are excellent, so easy to prepare. Also they're unsweetened, we just add syrup and make bubble tea. It's the same quality as you get over the counter.

3/5 stars - Good fresh texture, but inconsistent performance after opening
I bought this 1 kg bag to make bubble tea at home with some consistency rather than relying on instant pearls, and approached it with the expectation of doing the cooking properly. The pearls are semi-dried and slightly flattened in the pack, which already hints that they behave differently from fully dried tapioca. On cooking, they hydrate quickly and become translucent within a few minutes, with a soft centre and a gentle chew rather than a pronounced bounce. Texture is pleasant when freshly prepared, especially if finished in a brown sugar syrup, but timing matters and overcooking turns them pasty rather than elastic. In repeated use, I found the main limitation to be shelf behaviour after opening. Once exposed to air for a few weeks, the pearls harden unevenly and become less forgiving, requiring longer boiling while still failing to regain their original texture. Flavour is neutral as expected, and value is good if you work through the bag quickly. For frequent home use it is practical, but it lacks the resilience and consistency of higher-grade dried pearls.

I was thrilled to try the WuFuYuan Black Tapioca Pearls for homemade bubble tea, and initially, they impressed me. The flavor is spot-on, matching the chewy, authentic boba from top bubble tea shops. The 1kg pack is generous, perfect for frequent use, and the instructions are clear, making cooking straightforward. When freshly prepared, the pearls had a delightful, glutinous texture. However, after three months in my pantry with only half the pack used, the pearls have become frustratingly hard after cooking. I’ve experimented with different boiling times, soaking methods, and sugar syrups, but they still turn tough, losing that soft, “soapy” chewiness I loved at first. It’s disappointing, as I wanted to rave about this product. The taste remains excellent, but the hardening issue makes it less enjoyable. If you use them quickly, they’re fantastic, but long-term storage seems to affect quality.
