Sections 11 & 12 cover spelling, punctuation, grammar and the Spoken Language Assessment. There are also Practice Papers for both English Language & Literature at the back of the book, both of which I have found to be very useful for 'hands on' practice. Each section, of which there are 12 in total, leads perfectly into the next, beginning with the 'Exam Basics' in section one, which covers those basic areas which, in hindsight, can be the key to a successful exam grade. Basics such as planning answers, paragraph structure and reading techniques are all clearly explained in a simple, easy to understand manner. Throughout each section there are Revision Summaries, Exam-Style Questions as well as Worked Exam-Style Questions which not only provide an Exam-Style Question, but also excellent examples of how to correctly answer each question. In short, as an English tutor, I could not wish for a better book with which to prepare my student's for their coming exams and I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this book to both tutors and student's alike.

My son is now taking his GCSE's. In his mocks he did not score as well as hoped in English Language, so I purchased this book to give him some help and guidance for revision going forward. He found it really useful and was able to identify where he may have lacked quality in his answers before. Today he had a proper English Language GCSE and he came home happy with his work - first time for English, so if it is the right exam board for you or your child I recommend you buy this book.
