Good strings with great playability

Why spend four times as much for a good looking, sounding and 'feeling' set of strings? 16 quid is possibly the best value for money out there. I have put this set on my Mapleglo Ricky 4005 and the gold/bronze colour suits it perfectly, plus it now has a full, rich sound where previous sets of Rickenbacker, D'Addario and Rotosound strings had disappointed. Ignore the 'acoustic basses only' advice, these are good on any bass, whether a short scale or the very long length required on the 4005 due to the bridge and tailpiece design.

Pretty much perfect tension for my budget accoustic bass such that the intonation was just about right with no adjustment. They have a nice tone which suits an accoustic intrument with good lows and highs. However there is a minor problem that drops a star. Like most phosphor-bronze roundwounds they are scratchy - lots of finger noise when sliding notes. I get around that by using a musicians practice glove (available on Amazon and recommended) although surgical tape on finger tips is effective and cheaper. I would like to see a manufacturer produce flatwounds for accoustic bass. I have tried Fender electric bass flatwounds but the tension wasnt right so they are now doing sterling work on my Ibanez SR700

Doing up an old Acoustic Bass, and these were the last thing to add for a complete and very satisfying over hall.

I ordered these bass strings as a Christmas gift for my boyfriend, who has a Tanglewood acoustic bass. These genuinely are very good quality strings and once put on, the sound of the acoustic bass felt much deeper and warmer than the used strings from before. My boyfriend doesn't use a pick on these strings and only plays with fingers, but since he has a very strong and fast playing style, he needed something that would sound good and wouldn't break, and these definitely are perfect for that. He has been using them since Christmas 2016, and in this time they have kept their excellent sound.

They quickly turn black but the tone is ok .
