The Littlest Matryoshka

This book is part of a two part present for my niece, to join the Russian dolls discussed within. I love the idea of it and as the story seems to be about the love and bond of sisters, I thought this may become significant when she becomes the older sibling in her family. Lovely book with simple but beautiful illustrations. Still left me slightly perplexed as the story refers to 6 sisters when the nesting sets tend to be either 5 or 7 in number... No matter, both were beautiful in form and thought. The Littlest Matryoshka

This is the second of these books I have purchased so already knew the story but have only given it 4 stars as unfortunately the outer sleeve was damaged but the packaging it arrived in was intact so it was obviously damaged before distribution. However a delightful story to go with the dolls that I bought for my granddaughter.

I have bought this book as a present numerous times - I tend to marry it up with a Russain Doll, which makes a great christening gift. The book tells a lovely story of the smallest Matryoshka, which from my experience is the doll which young children are most obsessed about, and how she reunites with her sister. The pictures which accompany the story are capturvating. Overall a lovely book which I can imagine will be a childhood favourite for many girls.

A lovely book. Bought for my Granddaughters who play with their little Russian dolls all the time so loved to read about these Russian sisters. Beautiful illustrations. Already a favourite with children and me!

Beautiful book I purchased for my toddler grand-daughter's next birthday as she was fascinated with my set of the same dolls depicted in the book. I'll buy her a set of those too as I know she will enjoy them.

What a lovely story! Should be in every kindergarten class. The illustrations are beautiful. I am lucky enough to have a set of matrioshkas that match the illustrations which made the story even more enjoyable as my students were able to manipulate the "sisters" as I read the story.

Lovely book with beautiful pictures. We bought the set of dolls to go with it and these were beautiful and well-made, too. An excellent purchase and a much appreciated present.

Well written story with beautiful illustrations; certainly caught the imagination of my class of KS 1 children. Clear message, similar to Julia Donaldson' s Stick Man. Highly recommend.
