The stopper works fine.
I can only rate Gardena products at 3*. They work well as connectors or stoppers but I would not recommend Gardena as the goto for irrigation systems as they do not supply the O-Rings and those O-rings are non-standard. I have a box or O-rings and I have a box of Gardena connectors but they are useless as the O-rings have all perished.

Very useful addition to irrigation system
I use these to set up multi line systems where I will not need all the separate lines in use all the time eg in my greenhouse where I have a line across my bench where I grow seedlings in Spring but do not need on in Summer. This still allows the rest of the lines round the greenhouse to function.

Now working properly
Update, the valve leakage was due to the lock not being loose on delivery. Through experimentation I’ve managed to tighten the unit and it no longer leaks.1 out of 2 work, not what I’d expect from such a name. 1 of the valves leaks when opened, reducing the water pressure in the irrigation system.
