Genius Makers is the handbook you want to know the players. Many of the persons described by Metz have been in multiple AI start-ups with incredible success and some failures. I have made Genius Makers my basic research resource. Metz has a surprising ability to make difficult concepts understandable. I had done lots of reading about AI, including a 10-page summary of what I was learning before I got and read Genius Makers. Don't spend any more time attempting to learn the basics of AI. First read Genius Makers and you will want it next to your dictionary and your computer.

Interessant

The author has done a great job in providing an overview of the characters involved in the massive expansion in the use of AI, particularly neural nets, over the last 10 years. It is a non-technical story which gives some insight into how neural nets work and why they have suddenly become so important. Cade Metz is a NY Times journalist who tells how the big names in tech have competed to buy the talent necessary for success in an entertaining manner making it a very enjoyable read.
