Hello! It is made of rugged polished chrome plating ABS plastic, it seems like a metal top because of the quality. The thing is that in the case of glass jar the manufacture couldn't use the metal for the reason of safeaty, not to allow invisible peaces of glass that may get into food due to the active use of the lid. Hello! If you have lost the white cap, the only advice I can give you on my own is an easy way to help fill the dispenser with honey: Pinch the hole with your thumb while filling it. Because this plastic cap, in fact, you only need at the moment of filling the dispenser container with honey, then you don’t need it, because when you close the dispenser with an on-off release lever, honey does not flow out, thanks to the stem and stopper. You need to keep the stopper ON just while filling, no need to leave it on between uses. The glass base will catch errant drips, if any. Following next Steps: 1. Remove the Top 2. Insert Stopper 3.Fill Dispenser 4. Attach the Top 5. Remove Stopper 6. Press the Trigger to release Simply press the release on the handle and it instantly flows out the bottom.
