Great little socket
Despite the assorted horror reviews about soldering connections to this item, I ordered it anyway. It arrived in super fast time which for such a small inexpensive item was slightly amazing in itself . I then looked at the supposed offending terminals, then as I would any other item I would solder, I lightly filed the shiny coating down so as to get the solder to key to the base metal and hey pesto, as you can see from the photos enclosed no problems but its handy if you know what you're doing..

Kenable plug socket
This is the socket that takes your plug that would fit into your kettle I was going to solder wires onto it but in the end I just cut the plug off the other end and fitted the wires directly together so it's at this time unused but it did come quick and well packed

Works perfectly
I'd previously bought an IEC socket with side clips, but it wouldn't fit the thickness of panel I had. Obviously this one using screws to hold it in place can cope with any thickness of panel. And it works perfectly. Thanks.

Good enough
The level of quality is good enough for most purposes. If you're wondering this is the same plug as would be on the back of a desktop computer also known as a 'kettle' plug. To give an example of application I'm using it in a homemade guitar amplifier.

Bought this to utilise a LED emergency fitting in my garage so i can have area lighting as unable to run power to it. Works well but the rear connections are not fit for crimps and difficult to solder unless you feed the cable through the hole back up itself and then heat shrink once soldered. A few reviews mention melting the plastic but I'm guessing they've tried to solder directly onto the rear connections.

I purchased two sets of sound chaser light units with fixed power cables, which could get seriously damaged and cause a hazard.These power sockets remove the hazard, as the power cables can be stowed seperately in the cable case.These are well made and fit for purpose. I use these on any unit fixed power cables to eliminate such events.

Good item at good price.
Looks a good quality item at a good price. I have to say I havent used it yet but from overall construction and quality, I have no qualms this will be perfectly OK in use.
