Just like the old days
This took us back a few years. We were a bit more excited than we should have been. Looks amazing though having bought the black it might be a nightmare for fingerprints but it's worth it. Definitely lighter than the originals but still sturdy and doesn't look cheap. Ring is very similar to the old phones and a good volume. It comes with the necessary lead and adaptor if needed for router. (We only found the adaptor after going to 6 different shops to try and buy the correct lead, so make sure you empty your box!) We have a buzz on the line when talking which is a bit frustrating but I don't necessarily think this is a problem with the item. If you can get past the buzz the actual voices are clear and louder than our previous modern phone. Hopefully the buzz will sort and it won't be the actual phone but other than this 10/10.

Great quality build and original sound!
OMG! I'm loving this! When I was growing up in the 70's, my family had a red version of this phone and when I saw this on Amazon, I had to get one. I'm so happy with my purchase. It looks, feels, and more importantly, sounds just as I remembered! There is nothing flimsy about this phone. The chassis is a good quality build, nice and heavy. The handset is slightly lighter than the original phone in the 70's but that takes nothing away from it. The rotary dial isn't as tightly wound as I remember the original being, but again, this is not an issue, as it is adapted for pulse tone. There is also a # and * on the dial for use with telephonic menu options, i.e banks, etc. This has the actual bell as the ringer, which threw me straight back to the 70's when I first heard it. Loved it! There is an ON/OFF switch for the ringer and you have a choice of Normal or High for the ringer also. I keep mine on High, just because I love hearing the phone ring throughout my home :) The sound quality on the line is great. No distortion, no crackling and those I've called on it, have said that they hear me perfectly clearly. I also have a cordless phone plugged into another socket and there is no interference with either. GPO have made a quality product that I'm happy to recommend to anyone who is thinking of buying from this brand.

Not perfect but surprisingly good.
From a couple of feet away this absolutely looks like the real thing. Get closer and there are a couple of details that give the game away, primarily the centre 'paper' which is actually a sticker rather than paper behind a plastic cover. Good things: It rings just like the old phone. It's actually a rotary dial. Sound is good in the handset. Looks great on the telephone table. Not so good: Centre of the dial is just a sticker. The dial returns MUCH quicker than the original units - presumably to ensure the tones are read correctly - and feels slightly cheap. The handset is a bit light - although a former BT engineer told me that they used to put weights in the handset on the originals! Overall it's a pretty good facsimile of the old phone and, for the limited use it'll get in our house (everyone has mobile phones) it's perfect.

SOOOO COOL!!!
I've been looking to go "old school" with the landline for about 6 months now. Looked at, and read LOTS of reviews. I finally decided to buy this one and oh my days...I LOVE IT!! It's not as heavy as they were back in the day, but everything else is so authentic. Took literally minutes to set it up. Love that there's volume control and that the ringer can be switched off. I LOVE IT!! Jane 😍 UPDATE...the rotary dial isn't as solid as they used to be. Feels a bit flimsy but it works well. Does not change my overall review, Jane 🤩

Similar to, but not an exact replica of the original. Nice anyway. Buy one for fun.....I did.
This is a nice reminder of the old telephone that was in the hallway of the house I grew up in. It’s much less substantial than the original, thinner plastics and not quite the right shade of ivory colour, but that really doesn’t matter all that much. What sells it for me is when you pick up the handset and hold it to your ear, that unmistakable purr of a British phone line is something that immediately brought back the memories and for me, makes it worth every penny. Not practical as modern house phone, but as a cool little corner ornament that does actually work as a telephone it’s great.

Retro classic! Just perfect!
So when I was little my parents had a phone like this, when they upgraded the house phone I had their old one in my Wendy house, to have a working one which brings back so many childhood memories is fantastic!! I will say there are two options like and normal- I’d recommend the loud. It sounds bloody fantastic just like they used to!! I love the coloured wire, it matches the phone nicely. I got the red one- my husband says it’s like the bat phone! We are both pleased with this buy!!! The phone itself is lightweight, the old ones were much heavier but it makes no difference to the quality of it. Great statement piece and a lovely addition to my hallway, I really love it!

Disappointed
It looks fabulous, sounds fabulous but I found it NOT compatible with modern tech. It doesn't ring mobile numbers. I can hear a caller speak but they can't hear me.
