I found that this did exactly what I wanted with great results.I was using it to repair old tatty grouting in between grey granite patio slabs. The job was done quickly once the vacuum sealed bag was opened - a must as it starts to set when the air gets to it, so you only have 45 minutes to complete while the geo-fix is still workable. The hard work was in doing the preparation, as the gaps need to be 25mm deep x 5mm wide(minimum), but the actual application of geo-fix was easy - just brush into the gaps and compact down (I used the edge of my hand) - repeat when compacted until the gap is filled with packed down geofix and then simply slide along with a brick mortar tool or use a short piece of hose pipe to give a nice u shaped smooth finish - then stand back and admire! 4hours later it is set hard but is still water permeable so you won't get standing water on your patio when it rains. Some people have reviewed this saying that the grey colour is nothing like grey, whilst I kind of agree, I did not find it looked wrong as grouting for my grey granite slabs, and am very pleased with the end result. In short - I would recommend it.

Easy peasy, as long as you've got the right colour
First off this is a great product; it took me ten hours to dig out the cowboy bodged mostly sand pointing that was still wet after 18 months and just two to put the Geo fix in , point and brush off.The problem I've got , having used this three time on people's gardens, is the product labelling.I've ordered grey before, by delivery, and got buff. Ok, just return it, but it's a 20 kg headache for the delivered and a wait for me: the bucket could be more clearly marked. This time I ordered grey, bucket said grey, bag doesn't say anything but when opened the mix is chocolate brown. Not buff, but definitely not grey . Having opened the bag I've now got an few hours before I've got a 20kg rock . Or risk installing it, thinking it might change colour. I risked it and it went a sort of light grey /brown. I've e mailed the company about this saying they should mark the bags and bucket clearly. All very well, buts it's £52 a pop.Back to the good stuff, it's amazing how you can just brush it all in, point, sweep off and leave.Could do with smaller option sizes for small bits left over

Quick and easy to use… but be ready for it.
Amazing stuff. Make sure your full area to fill is ready… once the packet is opened, it must all be used within an hour or so (depending on how warm the weather is)!!!The packet is inside the tub and feels solid (which is correct) and once opened, goes like sand.Spread it over your area, use a soft brush to spread and fill the gaps, push down a little of need be.It then goes soft and over the next few hours, hardens up.Brush occasionally to remove loose bits.Ok, so not quite the grey I expected, but suppose it’s the sand content… still love it though.

I wouldn't buy it again.
This stuff works okay but its expensive. I have a large patio area and slabs around my house. It is much easier to work the mortar on smooth flags. Many of mine are riven stone and the mortar catches in the undulations and is very hard to sweep clean. One tub is difficult to completely work in within the 30/45 minute time limit given by the manufacturers as it comes in just one vacuum pack. It would be better if it could be packaged in two or three packs within the tub. This would allow one pack at a time to be opened and used even allowing the job to be spread over more than one period or day without the mortar going off, as the manufacturers say unopened packs properly stored will last up to two years. If i have to do this job again in the future i will use a 5 sand 1 cement dry mix. Much cheaper and i am sure will give a similar finish. Geo-Fix Paving Mortar is good but not good enough to buy twice.

Stays put and looks great with sandstone patio
Replaced the mortar between our sandstone pavers with this product and we have been really impressed with it after a year of use. It was relatively easy to put in place with a bit of elbow grease. As others have said, work with a small amount at a time since it dries quite quickly. The colour is ideal to go with the sandstone slabs, and best of all it hasn't washed out when we pressure washed the slabs in Spring and Autumn. Usually the mortar flies out when subjected to high pressure, but this mortar stays put and continues to look good. Excellent DIY product - highly recommended!

Not for use on solid concrete sub-bases
Product arrived quickly - no problems with the vendor. I pointed the patio and the product looks fantastic. However, that night it rained and that's when the problems started. Because my patio was laid on a solid concrete bed, the rainwater soaked into the Geofix (because it is water permeable) and then sat in the joints with nowhere to go. The lovely light buff colour was now a wet looking dark grey and there were water stains along all the edges of the slabs. I spoke to Geofix who were rather unhelpful and advised that it would all have to come up as it would only crumble over time if the water had nowhere to drain. OK, so I should have checked the small print, but I do think Geofix ought to make this a bit clearer on their website which I did read throughout. The bit about unsuitability for solid concrete beds is tucked away on a downloadable advice sheet and not particularly prominent. The other thing I learnt during all the research I have subsequently carried out, is that the Geofix does not actually bind to the slabs, but rather only binds to itself. Traditional mortar pointing is therefore still the best method as it binds to the slabs as well as to itself and creates a much firmer bond that holds everything together much better. The Geofix is very quick and easy to use and I'm sure would look great on a permeable bed, but I was not convinced regarding it's final strength beacuse even on the parts which remained dry on my patio, the pointing did look a bit crumbly after curing.
