Full disclosure- I am not a highly experienced crocheter. I primarily make baby blankets and have made many over the years. Couldn't find quite what I wanted nearby, so turned to Amazon. I searched for soft baby yarns and fell in love with the color of this "Simply Soft". But to me it wasn't simple to work with or particularly soft. As others mentioned, it splits easily and I really struggled with the lacy stitch I wanted to use. So I tried several other patterns and, while it looked nice, it worked up very heavy. Halfway through one version I was afraid it would weigh more than the baby. I finally gave up and did find an acceptable substitute at a retail store across town. To me, it almost feels like a sport yarn. If you know what you are doing, you may very well love this yarn, but it did not work for me!

I really love Caron but it can be difficult to work with if you knit. You need to have needles that have a little grip because of how slick the yarn is. It also splits but that is just normal for this type of yarn.

Caron simply soft yarn is my go to when working on any project, from blankets to amigurumi. The yarn slides along the fingers easily. It does not irritate sensitive skin. The glide is good for arthritic fingers, too. The drape and body of the finished product is excellent. And my little arigurumi projects look great. I would recommend this yarn to anyone with the caveat that it’s not very beginner friendly. It tends to be a little splitty, but once you learn how to work with that, it’s wonderful.

Ive ordered this "blackberry" yarn 3 times now. The 1st was true to color pictured. A bold pink color. The last 2 orders aren't pink , they're like an extremely pale shade of what I'd call mauve. They are going back. I have a lot of yarn, and I can't pair this color with anything I have, even the pinks or light purple. The price of yarn has skyrocketed, maybe due to tariffs or just inflation. The skeins have gone from 8 Oz, then 7 Oz, and now 6 Oz. Im going to find a new hobby. :(
