They don't block a lot of noise at all unfortunately. I used a decibel meter and it didn't even drop by 4. Blackout curtains from IKEA will have more or less the same effect.

These are even better than I expected. The fabric is soft and the thickness is great! Really good at blocking the light and easy to slide along the curtain rod when opening. Definitely a good chioce!

I purchased and installed these curtains on several windows of my house. I purchased burgundy red, beige, white, and navy blue. I make my own curtain rods out of wood closet poles and small wood trim to attach to the wall/stud. I like my curtains to go much wider than the windows (which you will see in the pictures), so they are completely out of the way of the glass when stored, and so the windows are completely unhindered. These curtains look lovely and are truly blackout when closed. They are very thick. They are a bit wrinkled, but I'm hoping that dissipates after a few weeks of hanging. I washed them on hand wash cycle before I hung them up, and let them air dry while hanging. I was hoping this would take care of the wrinkles, but it did not. I like my curtains to remain bunched (pleated) after they are spread wide covering the windows, so I purchased/hung TWO sections of the 52" wide curtains ON EACH SIDE of the windows. (Keep in mind you get two 52" wide curtains with each single purchase. I doubled this.) Each of my windows (pictured) are roughly 36" across--for a total of 72" across the entire span of glass and trim. I used two panels (a total of 104" of curtain) on each side of each window (4 curtain panels in all for a total of 208") because I do not like the look of the curtains when they are closed if they are flat with no pleating. Also, the curtains are harder to pull along my 1" closet pole if they are flattened. But if the pleating is maintained across the length of the window, they are easy to pull. I'm hoping the material does not pull away from the metal grommets over time, but if it does, these curtains are relatively inexpensive to replace. **Don't fret on the wrinkles! I used this portable steamer on all my hanging curtains and it took ALL wrinkles out!! Exactly as described. Blocks out light which makes the room cooler. Very heavy! Make sure you have a curtain rod that can handle the weight.

We bought these curtains to help with noise reduction as the apartment we rent is open concept and the laundry room doesn’t have a door and is directly off the living room. They are super thick and heavy, soft, and very high quality. They worked so well at blocking the sound of the dryer we got another set to replace the black out curtains in our bedroom - figuring if they worked that week at noise reduction they’d probably be great at blocking it light too. Let me tell you, they block every bit of sunlight in our room. My husband works nights and no longer needs to wear an eye mask when he goes to bed. We arranged them to over lap and extend past the window so that every part is covered and when the door is shut you can’t see your hand in front of your face. We were already very happy with the purchase but noticed an unexpected bonus - our bedroom was noticeably degrees cooler than the rest of the apartment. So we bought another set to put on the windows in the living room to help keep it cooler in the summer, and again it’s been amazing. These are the best curtains I’ve ever bought. They are amazing at reducing noise and heat, and block all sunlight coming into a room. I was originally hesitant because of the price when ordering the first pair but you get what you pay for and they are very much worth it!!
