Strong smell to them
This is a 3kg bag of berry suet pellets. The pellets are quite firm, break up well and don’t leave a lot of mess, although they do go a bit sticky if they get wet. They can be used in a hanging feeder, in a tray style of feeder, or even just a thrown handful, so they are multifunctional. Most of the birds like them, including sparrows, dunnocks, and blackbirds, and the wood pigeon will eat the odd one here and there. The only thing I’m not keen on is the smell, but it’s not a deal breaker. I will buy them again.

The birds love it!
I have been getting this for a few years now and judging by the variety and number of birds that call by I reckon it tastes pretty darn good. Now you might think 'they would eat anything!' But I tell you you are quite wrong. I have tried a number of seed type mixes and honestly I have 3/4 of a 12kg bag of high quality wild bird seed to tell you they don't eat everything. They throw from the feeders any seeds they don't want, to get to what they do and even "no mess" or "no grow" seeds are a mess and often do grow plus the mouse population think it is fantastic and as I don't want to attract anymore rodent life than what would naturally be around I feel that the suet pellets are a much better buy.Don't think the mice won't get in on the suet pellet action if any are dropped because obviously they will but generally the starlings will not throw them out of the feeders just a few will fall but what I put out is eaten throughout the day by the birds so no surplus for the mice. I restrict the amount I put out as well as honestly it would all be eaten and I believe the birds need to still look for other sources of food and so grow wild flowers etc to attract bugs etc and let plants go to seed for the birds too.Word to any dog owners out there who have food obsessed hounds..... My big leggy floppy eared critter thinks that suet pellets are treats for her and will go sniffing through the grass and flower beds for a dropped pellet... I mean one pellet. So if I put them in a ground feeder for the blackbirds even on the raised bed with defences to stop my mutt getting in the bed, she is determined and will happily spend the day looking for weakness in my plan and then gratefully thanks me with kisses and muddy paws when she does, nosing the weak point to let me know where I need to improve next time!!!! LIFT YOUR GROUND FEEDER BEFORE YOUR DOG GOES OUT OR CAT AS TOO MUCH WILL GIVE THEM A DODGY TUMMY.From the same company I previously bought these suet pellets in containers. I now use the same container and refill it when I open a bag. You could use any container with lid though. Any open bags would definitely attract the mouse or rat around for tea... Or in my case my dog would devour it!!
