I have now bought this thing 3 times. All 3 are garbage. Will not give radio enough power to transmit

Agreed with other reviews, on transmit it powers off. Power cable ripped out as well. I plan to install my own buck converter.

I was building a GMRS repeater using Baofeng radios and though this would be great to use to eliminate the battery... I've used similar devices on Motorola GP300 radios decades ago, so I know the concept is sound.Well, it turns out that they work and power up the radio, but if you try and transmit... the radio resets... the electronics cannot handle the current the radio (5W) need to transmit.What's the point otherwise? Inside is a power regulator at around 8V. It, at present, isn't big enough to do the job.Bottom line, pass on this unless you are accepting the disappointment.

This will not power the radio for transmit. When you key the radio , the display goes blank and have to power cycle the radio to even get it to turn on. Waste of money. I was going to use this on my side by side but I guess I will have to stick with batteries.
