It will fit a torso length of 16 to 21.5 inches (you can check YouTube on how to measure someone’s torso). Keep max loaded weight carried to about 20% of body weight as a guideline.

Wondering how "limited" their life time guarantee is? Have bought a few cheaper backpacks and they never last. Want to invest in a longtime piece.

Teton's customer service is the best. I've bought both the Scout3400 and the Explorer4000. I had a problem with my first Explorer before I even took it out on a trip. One of the Sternum adjustment straps has started to tear at the seam. I emailed Teton, and like the other reviewer stated, they asked me to send a couple of pictures, and they sent me a new pack, no questions asked. They didn't even want the old one back. Stated to me to keep it and use it for parts, or donate it to someone. They were great.

Is this backpack within airline guidelines for flying carry-on?

Yes it fits. I carry it though the airport often. Just don't over stuff it. It will fit In The over head compartments but it will not fit under the seat.

Is the torso length adjustable?

Yes, it's adjustable. It's a great pack and you can really put a lot of stuff in there. Wonderful pockets, adjustable length, good back support. Love it!
