Are they compostable?

No they still contain plastic. You want EN13432 rated for compostable.

what are they actually made from? Is it plastic? I'm looking for a non-plastic based bag that doesn't break down to microplastics.

What a great question! These bags are made from HDPE and LLDPE (high and low density polyethylene) and though they do break down into smaller pieces in the first stage of their degradation process, that definitely isn't their ending state! Their non-toxic Totally Degradable Plastic Additive (TDPA) reacts to elements in landfills like heat and oxygen, breaking them down into more manageable pieces. Once they're small enough, the tiny microorganisms in landfills actually take care of everything from there- they essentially eat the remainder of the bags and transform them into trace amounts of water, carbon and biomass. In total, this whole process takes around 24 months from start to finish if disposed of properly (AKA in landfills)! The heading says they measure 17 x 34 cms. The bullet point says 12 x 20 cms. That's a big difference. Which is it?

Hi, cant believe I'm measuring a poo bag! So, its 35cm long, that's including the tie handles but just the bag is about 25cm, and 18.5cm wide. That's the size I have so plenty big enough for bigger dog

where are these bags manufactured?

I believe the bags are made in China, under North American guidelines
