This has a 40mm steel conical burr. the burr is also quick release for easy cleaning.

The reviews of this grinder claim it uses new m2 burrs, while baratza's website currently lists it with the inferior m3 burrs. which one is correct?

Originally, the ESP was released withe the sharper M2 burr set found on the higher-end Virtuoso. However, we can confirm your claim that Baratza's site now lists that the ESP is outfitted with the M3 burr set. We are still looking into why they had to make this change. But to be fair, both sets are virtually identical 40mm conical steel designs, and we can't easily say that we detected any difference in grind consistencey. Burrs aside we think the main strength of the ESP is that it's calibration is properly oriented to the finer side of the burr set's range.

I live in Thailand where the standard household voltage is 240volts. Can this unit be somehow adapted to the higher Thailand voltage?

Information received from Baratza: “To explain the two ratings listed on our site: we offer two different versions for all Baratza models, depending on the voltage required for that territory. In the US, we sell only the grinders with a power rating of 100-120VAC. In countries that use 220V power, we use the other configuration (220-240VAC) through our international distributors”.
