Realistic Asset Creation with Adobe Substance 3D: Create materials, textures, filters, and 3D models using Substance 3D Painter, Designer, and Stager

First of all, I do this for hobby and been using Lightwave 3d for years, but recent changes made desire to switch to Blender. I also old fashion and like to have books handy.I purchased this book and Substance Painter on steam because before I had Deeppaint 3d for lightwave and desired photorealistic materials. But I need more learning on Blender before I can take on this.

I'm on the second day of studying Substance 3D using this book and it's been a painful process. With almost each step, I had to find my way through the interface as the images and instructions were not all that clear. I felt like my time could have been better spent if the text was clearer. There are several places where the author seems to be assuming the clarity of the instructions but that is not the case. When the software has the complexity of Substance 3D, it becomes even more important to be clear even in the most basic of steps.I am still waiting for Adobe to publish a Classroom in a Book on this suite, which in my experience have been the best source for learning graphics software. The CIAB series takes you on series of progressively difficult lessons, which are always clear and makes you feel you are accomplishing something fruitful with your time, as each lesson ends with a finished project. This book is similarly priced but nowhere as clear and every page becomes a struggle between the text, the image and the software—definitely not anything to look forward to as you sit on your computer to try to learn something. Designers will be more receptive to Substance 3D if Adobe publishes a CIAB series on it.Substance 3D is not easy to learn, especially with the way the interface was designed. I've been studying computer graphics since the early '90s and I wouldn't recommend this book. I only bought it since there was no other book on the market that touted the same coverage. If you buy this, be ready for a struggle.
