Dryden Designs Luxury Rosewood Fountain Pen with Ink Refill Converter

Please go on to read my original review below. I thought it was time to update it. A fountain pen is a very personal thing and I thought those interested in buying a Dryden may wish to know how well mine is working. I have the silver and the bamboo Dryden pens. I use the silver one more more frequently but can pick up either and know that it will give me the same warm glow, the same aesthetic pleasure, that I felt on the first day I used them. If anything, the Drydens have improved in the way they function. Smoothness is guaranteed and the aesthetic quality of build in a Dryden just feels better with every use. These are not my pens any more. They are my friends. I am using them to write important personal pieces because I have secondary cancer. My Drydens are bringing me very special joy and pleasure. Really. Buy one. No better quality, in my experience. Using yhem just makes me smile! I bought this and another with a view to keeping and returning one. I kept both. If you value craftsmanship, if you enjoy the sheer aesthetic pleasure of holding and writing with a pen of real quality, treat yourself to something from this craftsman's range. The purchase was followed up almost immediately with a personal email from the head of the company. Small, but hugely indicative insight into the professional values of the company. The pens are beautifully weighted and balanced. Flow is perfect and there are no signs of blotting or leaking. They take standard cartridges but also come equipped with an ink-filler tool. Clearly designed and crafted to exacting standards, it is unsurprising that they produce a writing experience of rare aesthetic pleasure. I have never written with a finer pen. Treat yourself to one...or two, as I did. Rarely does an Amazon purchase actually excite. This most certainly did.

Really happy with this pen, I have another Dryden pen and loved it so when I saw this bamboo one that was gift boxed in a beautiful bamboo box , I had to get it. I had a small issue with the first pen received and I cannot get over the service I received to resolve it. It is a family business and the owner himself took the trouble to sort it out, and it was resolved straight away. Fabulous customer service thank you! As for the pen , I am really happy with it. It feels really special, simple design but looks really stylish I think (as does the box) and it writes beautifully. I have a feeling I won't be able to stop at just having the 2 Dryden pens (white & bamboo), I can feel the urge to have one for each colour of ink I like! At this price they make a great gift, especially this one in the bamboo box .

Good simple fountain pen which takes international standard ink cartridges / can use bottled ink via the refillable reservoir. I'm certain that this pen is exactly the same as other brand luxury bamboo fountain pens on here and elsewhere with just the name change. Is it worth it at full price? No. It's not a Parker or Mont Blanc etc but it does what it needs and does it nicely. The Barrel is quite slim and feels thinner as I've got hands like dinner plates but if you're normal with normal sized paws then it will be fine. The nib is a medium width and provides a smooth writing experience. The cap has a positive click sound when putting it on and seems strong enough to not come undone without a definite pull action The box, is similarly well made and smoothed to stop any splinters. All in all, pull a piece of A4 out of your printer, push the keyboard away and write a note or a letter to that colleague to whom you were about to write the 50th pointless email of the day to with this pen! Maybe this is the cause of the resurgence in fountain pens generally? By having to write it neatly, you stop and think do I need to send this to my colleague or could we, possibly, potentially, it's very dodgy but I might just try it, Talk to them!!! If not, you'll remember or for the younger people, learn, how to write a note or a letter without the option of a spill chocker err sorry spell checker, no backspace key to undo that phrase... I'm no philistine, nor am I a technophobe, I love my computers and gadgets but there is just something special about writing a note or letter to a colleague. Equally there is something special about receiving a handwritten note and seeing a genuine signature rather than a scanned and imported image of your signature from 10 years ago!

I love my new pen ... the look, the feel, the presentation box is all just lovely and it is even nicer knowing this is a small family run business. I keep it in the box and I got another pen because I’ve had a run of mine leaking hence me covered in ink every day. My only issue is the ink converter. Someone else wrote that unless the ink bottle is full, you can’t refill. That is right. I had a friend tilting my ink bottle and still had a whole lot of difficulty. I prefer ink to cartridges so going to have to practice or find another solution. However, when there is ink in it, it writes really well so far and I love the fine nib. Thank you

The pen is absolutely lovely, feels like quality & writes really well. However........the refillable ink cartridge included works but is such an odd design that when the ink bottle has gone down a bit, you can't get this thing in there to refill it. The pen doesn't work with standard cartridges either although it says it does, I tried quite a few & the ink just doesn't come through. So, only usable with a brand new ink bottle every time it needs refilling which is disappointing.

Man nimmt eine Patrone, steckt sie in den frisch ausgepackten Füller, drückt sie hinein - und das Ding schreibt! Das habe ich bei mehreren anderen Füllern nicht erlebt, selbst ein teurer Lamy erwartet, daß man die Feder zunächst in Tinte taucht. In seiner eleganten Schatulle macht dieser Füller einiges her, er wirkt wie ein deutlich teureres Modell. Mit dem Konverter funktioniert er problemlos. Mit Patronen... Das ist die einzige Einschränkung. Es paßt nur eine "kurze" Patrone hinein, bei einer "langen" Patrone läßt sich das Oberteil nicht aufsetzen. Pelikan Edelstein Tinten im "Faß" funktionieren dank Konverter bestens, als lange Patronen leider nicht. Da der zugesicherte Funktionsumfang erfüllt ist und das Gerät ganz einfach schreibt, vergebe ich trotz dieser kleinen Einschränkung die vollen fünf Sterne

J'ai commencé a l'utiliser depuis peu et j'en suis tres contente. L'ecriture est bien fluide et souple, sans rigidité excessive, prise en main agreable. Quant a la pointe, je dirais qu'elle est plutot "moyenne" que "fine". Mais ce n'est pas du tout genant.

Ne ho fatto un regalo molto apprezzato. Nella sua elegante scatola rossa, la qualità la conoscevo già, è un regalo perfetto.

Eine objektive Produktbewertung fällt mir aufgrund meiner Erfahrung mit dem Service der Firma Dryden schwer, wo man trotz dreifacher Anfrage nicht in der Lage war, mir zu diesem Produkt auch eine Rechnung zur Verfügung zu stellen. Vorsicht also, wer die Schreibware von der Steuer absetzen möchte. Ich versuche es trotzdem: Der Füllfederhalter kommt in einer massiv hölzernen wertigen Box, ideal also zum verschenken. Die Farbe von Box und Schreibgerät entspricht in etwa der Abbildung, erwartungsgemäß nicht ganz so farbvoll und glänzend, aber durchaus OK. Wir haben jedoch den Eindruck, dass die Farbe sich bei Benutzung zunehmend ins bräunliche verändert. Ohne Kappe ist der Füllfederhalter etwas zu leicht, mit Kappe hingegen dürfte er gerne leichter sein. Leider ist der Schreibkomfort nicht allzu gut, denn der Füller ist zur Feder hin (Übergang zum Plastikteil) zu hart abgestuft und dann sehr schmal, was störend ist. Also nichts für Vielschreiber, für Unterschriften ganz OK. Der Tintenfluß ist bislang einwandfrei, Schreiben ist auch aus unterschiedlichen Winkeln und mit der linken Hand möglich. Wir haben es auch geschafft, eine Standard-Tintenpatrone zu verwenden. Auf keinen Fall sollte man jedoch versuchen, eine zweite Patrone in den oberen Teil zu stecken, dafür ist dieser zu schmal (glücklich, wer es geschafft hat die Patrone dann wieder herauszubekommen). Prinzipiell ist aber natürlich die Benutzung mit dem vormontierten Konverter angedacht, welcher bislang jedoch bei uns noch nicht zum Einsatz kam. Eine Langzeiterfahrung fehlt noch, verspricht aber nichts Gutes. Wir werden den "Luxus" Füllfederhalter wohl behalten, aber nochmal kaufen würden wir ihn nicht. Dann vielleicht doch besser zu den etwas teureren Markenprodukten greifen.

Also die Lieferung war wie angekündigt pünktlich, habe den Füller gleich mit Tinte befüllt und los ging es, super schönes Schriftbild, gleichmäßiger Tintenfluss, kein Kleckern! Besonders liebe ich das der Füller und die Box aus wunderschönem Bambus Holz ist, sieht total hochwertig aus und das zu dem echt günstigen Preis! Klare Kaufempfehlung auch als Geschenk!
