Box of 500 Bubble Mailers = 1/2 the Size of ANY Case of 250 Mailers I've Ever Seen From ANY Company.
Over the past 8 years I've seen quite a variety of quality across a #000 bubble mailer. Even the POOREST quality bubble mailer to date can not stack up against this product -- for which I dispute their use of the terms 'bubble' or 'mailer' in the product description.Having ordered 2 of this product [2000 Mailers total] I knew something was wrong the moment I opened the door and saw only 2 cases on my porch [the #000 tend to come in cases of 250 -- regardless of the manufacturer or quality] which were only HALF the size of case usually containing 250 #000 envelopes. Cases which clearly said 500 Envelopes and had the seller and or manufacturer's name, Amamax printed on the box. [I mention the seller's name even though this is a product review in the event that this particular seller listed their really crappy [possibly not even made via 'kraft' paper envelopes] product against a listing for what actually is a product which "provides stiffness and rugged durability" as stated in the product bullet points, in which case I can only speak for the product sent to me from Amamax. As other reviewers mentioned, the box was taped up somewhat strange -- as if it'd been opened & resealed [several times -- perhaps the result of several returns]In an effort to provide data to demonstrate how poor the quality of this product was, I ripped open one of the envelopes received from Amamax [which does not contain any printing / branding -- also strange as even poor quality mailers generally have a manufacturer name or some information of them]. I also ripped open one of the envelopes from a company I normally purchase from who offers a significantly higher quality product [only $10 more for 1000 envelopes -- although it wasn't the savings, but the speed with which I needed the envelopes which brought me to order from Amazon]. My 'regular' bubble mailers are marked "Bubble-lite 000 100% recycled paper (25% PCR) -- not sure what all that means but since there are so many different bubble mailers out there, wanted to provide the info about my 'comparison testing'. I've only ever seen one type of standard 'kraft paper bubble mailer' that was higher quality than I regularly use however it was EXTREMELY stiff, designed specifically for photo / unbendables and the price was substantially higher. Although probably worth the cost, I didn't require a bubble mailer that stiff and the current ones I've been getting are the highest quality I've seen in the same price range as other bubble mailers.Using a special wire-gauge measurement tool which has a slide thing-a-magig that stays in place [sort of like a mini handheld vice grip] I slid the measuring tool over one [of the very few] partially inflated bubble that still had air in it on the Amamax envelope [making every attempt to ensure I wasn't applying undue pressure] slid the tool off & found the slider to line up with the 1/16" mark on the ruler. While measuring the envelope from the company I usually use, I noticed that EVERY bubble was FULLY INFLATED in a CONSISTENT manner. I made every effort to measure these bubbles with the same amount of pressure -- if nothing else slight more as there was a certain point where I COULD NOT APPLY pressure [which on the other envelope would have completely closed the slider-measure thing-a-mabob tool. The bubbles measure 1/8" [Double the size of the partially inflated bubbles on the Amamax envelopes. In measuring the entire thickness of the envelope itself [sans any contents] the Amax mailer just about hit the 1/8" mark [there was no spot on the envelope where the top and bottom layers both had even partially inflated bubbles -- thus the width of the entire envelope not quite equaling twice the size of a partially inflated bubble. My regular bubble mailer -- 1/4" -- consistently around the envelope [excluding the edges where the size tapers off as expected to form the 'protective fin']Compared to my regular bubble mailers, the Amamax envelopes were about 1/4" smaller across the short side and [when sealed where it should be] about 3/4" smaller on the long side. I say about because the Amamax envelopes don't really 'lay flat' [likely due to the inconsistency in the amount of air in the partially filled bubbles] having the type of effect you'd expect if the paper was placed across fully inflated bubbles that lost their air over time & no longer 'filled' the paper. I find it unlikely the bubbles were fully inflated as they wouldn't have fit that many in the boxes I received if they were -- it just seems from the paper wrinkling they once had more air in them than they did at the point I received them.Pulling an envelope out from the middle of the box at random -- it wouldn't lay flat on it's own, having somewhat molded itself to the envelopes around it & becoming permanently wrinkled [if nothing else, air content of the bubbles & quality aside -- this makes it very difficult to apply 1/2 sheet shipping label in such a way the tracking bar code will lay flat and / or ensure the entire label even 'sticks' correctly to the envelope. With my normal envelopes, I don't remember more than 1 or 2 per case [usually on top or against the edge of the case] that weren't 100% flat with a wrinkle-free surface to apply shipping labels. The mere fact the [every] Amamax envelopes managed to sustain damage which permanently deformed [wrinkled or otherwise prevented it from laying flat when removed from the case] from ONLY having been jammed tightly against OTHER Amamax envelopes in a box -- is a testament itself as to the inability for the envelope to provide ANY type of support or protection for ANY of the contents. Also of note, having ripped open both envelopes, the Amamax envelope's 'bubble' layer very easily became separated from the paper. [which may or may not be 'kraft' processed paper as stated in the listing title -- I don't know enough about how to verify this [feel free to offer suggestions as I am rather curious to know if this is the case]. In feeling the bubble layer itself -- the significantly low percentage of bubbles which actually contain any air feels similar to that of saran wrap in my kitchen. At this point I feel as though wrapping my products in saran warp & covering them with paper bags from the grocery store would offer more protection than this sort excuse for a 'bubble mailer' -- although falling slightly short of my requirements hence my attempt to purchase bubble mailers in the first place.I will acknowledge that I didn't do the due diligence in reading the reviews prior to purchasing the product and / or the dimensions provided for the box -- which [even though the listing has stated as larger than they actually were] should have been an indicative the envelopes could not have been the [consistent fully inflated bubble] quality I was used to as the WxLxH is still much smaller for a box of 500 than I am used to receiving 250 / case. That being said, the listing states the exterior [product -- not shipping] dimensions are listed as 21.5 x 18.8 x 16 inches for a case of 500. The actual dimensions of [each] case of 500 envelopes was actually closer to 16x16x18 -- another testament to the quality of the product, given the quality is directly related to the % of inflated bubbles & amount of air they contain and the smaller the containing box for the same number of envelopes equates to a reduction in the % of inflated bubbles and / or amount of air they contain [and possibly representative of paper thickness / quality] the fact that the box was significantly smaller than the listed dimensions does show evidence that a SUB-PAR product to that which was described was sold. While not knowing very much about the paper and / or packing bubble industry, as a frequent user of such products & having had a fair share of experiences when it comes to quality [of the paper & the mailer] given the likelihood that a variety of quality products are actually being sold under this single listing, I would recommend / suggest contacting the specific seller you intend to purchase from & inquire about the 'markings' on the envelopes [writing / stamp on the bottom of the back]. I haven't personally kept track of which 'brand' or specific text equates to the best envelopes [and don't even know that there is a correlation and / or the same text could be printed on two different quality envelopes] my own personal experience is envelopes LACKING ANY text / printing regarding the envelope size and / or information about the paper like "Bubble-lite" [for example] is an indication of a product you might want to stay away from. I'd also point out that [even if purchasing '500' bubble mailers] those mailers with consistent & fully inflated bubbles -- even the smallest available bubble size for the #000 envelope -- should be in 250 count cases. [The better quality envelopes come in MUCH LARGER boxes -- packed per 250]. A larger box holding more than 250 envelopes would likely exceed 'normal' shipping sizes and have surcharges even for wholesaler suppliers with UPS / FedEx accounts. 500 envelopes in a single case is AT LEAST 1/2 the size a fully inflated higher quality bubble mailer would take up -- bubble inflation being directly related to the quality [in addition to paper / glue] You have to figure if a company is being cheap with something as obvious as the 'bubble quality' they likely aren't to be shelling out for good quality paper and / or glue.As a seller on Amazon myself, I can recognize that sometimes sellers will offer their INFERIOR and LOW QUALITY products against popular listings [for which this seems to be] and for the sake of those other sellers who might be selling a better quality product [perhaps via 2x250 packed cases -- although the listing doesn't state this] I did feel it was important to specify the seller I purchased from in this particular instance. It seems unfair to offer such negativity towards a product which [given the case dimensions weren't even close to the size provided in the listings] may very well be a case of a one-off seller & not representative of those products sold by the other sellers. [I can't imagine ANYONE actually reviewing this as anything near '5-Star' quality and have to assume those buyers did not receive what I received.]I am curious to know if the other negative reviewers also purchased from the same seller and / or those with good reviews purchased from different sellers for the purpose of determining if the wide range of reviews is indicative products of varying quality are being sold under this single listing.

Great Quality
I could not believe that I was still buying these bubble mailers locally when I found these on Amazon. I was paying well over 10x the price, and I bought them fairly often for my small Etsy business. These are much more durable and sturdy compared to the ones I used to buy. (I really am disappointed with myself for not finding them sooner than I did!)Unlike the ones I was buying in stores, these don't have any words or logos on them -ready for me to use for my company. They're small and weigh close to nothing making them perfect for shipping. If you're buying them to ship from home make sure your labels will fit. I was printing labels (via PayPal) with my inkjet and would have to tape them on (it was sometimes a pain in the butt, but that was my own fault). Since I switched to a thermal printer that only prints on 4"x6" labels, they fit with more than enough room and I couldn't be happier.Anyway, I bought this pack of 500 over a year ago and still have over 100 left (my fault, I started using boxes for my brand instead of mailers) but still use them occasionally for other things. If you need mailers but not sure if you could use all 500, I would recommend asking a friend to go in halfway. (That at least would help for storage). If you have a small business and primarily mail small things, I recommend these!

Great Value for money
As said before, great value for the money. The reason the box may be in such bad shape is because these are actually bought from the wholesaler in China, and then sold at a profit on Amazon. This product ended up being the perfect size for my business, but it is smaller than you would expect. I am 5' 8", and I can barely stick 4 fingers into the packet. The glue is strong and works well, and the bubbles are good, not overinflated, but not flat. I looked at some of the competitors, and I found a generic #000 bubble mailer for $33 for 250. This is double that, for 2 dollars more.Acceptable shipping speed (6 days), but don't depend your life on it.LASTLY: You can save 10% by going to the wholesaler's website at [...]

not consistent
I've bought these about 10 times on amazon and every order is different. They are all sufficient and do the intended job - but the envelopes are of different quality each time. Some are nice and thick, some have good sticky, others are thin and the sticky isn't great. It's a crap shoot really - but I still keep ordering because it's the best price on the web (when you factor in shipping).

Smaller than #000 perfect for small items
Good quality padded envelope but is a bit smaller than a normal #000 envelope. I knew this would be the case when I ordered because of the other reviews but I actually wanted a smaller envelope. And, the price was right. The envelope I received measures 4 7/8" wide x 7" length and the flap can add up to another inch in length when folded over. The inner measurement is 3 7/8" wide x up to 8" depending on how you fold the flap. The envelope weighs 0.260 ounce. This envelope is perfect for my small orders and is lightweight and very good quality. Good stickum on the flap

Deluxe? No. But not junk either.
Thank goodness these have good adhesive. We've been through a few different brands that required additional tape - what a waste of time and money those are! The padding on these is certainly not super fluffy and protective, but I've also seen worse. As long as these stay the same (fingers crossed!) we'll be happy to keep buying.

The trick is to know what each 3rd party seller is really selling...
I bought these off Amazon.com from a 3rd party seller. Very happy with them, good quality, very sticky flaps, these are real deal. That being said, as I write this, 4 different companies are selling these. Don't be fooled by the "Kraft" name, that is a generic name to refer to the style. I suspect that some of these are better than others. That doesn't mean you shouldn't buy them, but do try whatever you get soon enough to be able to return them if they are substandard. That is my only advice.
