Bought this for a 2500 mile round trip with multiple stops. The unit is of good quality and ties down very well on my dodge caravan. After getting familiar with the process once, the time to install, pack and tie down was pretty quick (around 15 minutes or so).We had multiple rain storms along the trip and only had one point with minor water intrusion. This was due to the orange flap that covers the zipper and seams got pulled up in the wind. I was more careful to make sure that flap stayed down and saw no more issues with water. My one suggestion to the designers would be to add Velcro to that front section like the other three sides.Overall this is a very economical solution to space issues when traveling and is not bulky to store like a rigid shell would be.

For $40 I was very pleased and would recommend this for anyone needing extra cargo space for a road trip. Installation was easy enough without a roof rack and the grippy mat helped it stay in place. One buckle broke when my 130-lb wife tightened it but we replaced it with a buckle from one of the straps that are only used when you have a roof rack. The velcro really helps keep the excess straps from flopping around. The bags inside shifted back slightly while driving on the interstate on our first leg. This internal shift allowed the center of the bag to raise off the car roof a bit, enough we could see a little daylight through the sunroof. Packing it tightly with heavier, more rigid items up front helped minimize that effect. We normally get 42 mpg on the interstate and our mileage dropped to 32 mpg while using this bag. Everything stayed dry but we only had light sprinkles.

It was fine during our vacation trip to Montana, South Dakota, Seattle, Wyoming, we checked on occasion rest stops and it was looking good, until our way back home that's when we noticed on one of our rest stops that it had torn. That was the part facing the car. Well it was supposed to be waterproof which it did good in Seattle, it rained while we were visiting the National Forests there, and no water leaked through but when we came back to our home state we drove thru the car wash and it some water did eventually leaked thru. I'm not sure because of the ripped part, but maybe that's how the water leaked thru. Over all it held up from the beginning only and then everything fell apart coming back. We were on vacation fro only 14 days lol. I did returned it and Amazon credit my money back but weird how it didn't go to my original payment which was my CCard, it went to my Amazon account only. SMH... I wouldn't recommend this product as durable at all, and I would not buy this again. It's just my opinion, anyways.****Updated 6/30/2021*********Since this review, the vendor reached out to me and wanted to see if I would give them another review by sending me a new pack at no charge. They shipped it out after just brief email exchanges and the within four to five days I received it, it arrived fast. That was nice. I put it to the test right away after unboxing it, it was the perfect timing because it had started to rain for 3 days where I lived non stop, we had thunderstorms, lightning, and sometimes heavy raining. Right away I've noticed that they did fixed an updated the front part of where the bag where I had posted a picture in the beginning of where it ripped. Now that part itself was like doubled updated it was thicker and looked at more quality durable. Also the store away bag that it came in the string wasn't defective and broken because my bag that I received the first time it was but I didn't put that in the first review because I forgot. So here's my honest opinion about this product and the cargo carrier bag. I feel like it had held up to the quality of it being more durable and sturdy. We did a lot of traveling and going on the highway with it around 70 to 80 miles per hour and the bag didn't rip at all. As far as it being waterproof I would say that it is to a certain extent now if you go through rain or any heavy thunderstorm it will hold up but if you go to a car wash and take it with you that will not hold up. After our trip I took it to the car wash and the water did leak through somehow, at one corner it had leaked thru and my weekend bag with my clothes in it did get wet and my shoes but the rest of the bag was dry. Other than that overall this bag is pretty durable and sturdy and it does do his job as it should on the road and the weather climates So I will rate this and update it to a four-star and that is my honest opinion and that will not change for the new updated version of this product. I would recommend it and I would probably buy it again because it's holding up better now, durability wise just don't take it through a car wash.

I have a bare roof so roof rack or side rails not possible. This bag didn’t move an inch with the no slip mat and tie downs attached to door frame with loop ties I purchased separately. I also used the ratchet tie downs that came with the product over the top. The bag is super sturdy, very roomy and didn’t take any air in it while traveling. The Velcro flap over the zipper was amazing for this. We drove past many vehicles whose cargo bags were full of air so I am sure created a great deal of drag- NOT an issue with this bag! Absolutely recommend!

Editing this review, as the seller was very responsive with follow up. I liked the item overall, but the strap breaking and rain getting in made it not useful for me. If it hadn't leaked, I would have given 4 stars.I bought this so that we could keep our vehicle as empty as possible when we go on vacation. The first trip we learned that it is NOT waterproof, as all of our clothes were soaked after driving through some heavy rain. When we stopped for the night, we unpacked it to put the luggage in the vehicle for safekeeping, as this obviously isn't a secure storage item. When attaching it the next morning and tightening the straps down, one of them ripped off in my hand.Definitely not a good solution if you're driving across country, unless you're VERY sure that it won't rain while driving, and you don't intend to tighten the straps securely.When I emailed the seller about it, I was told:"We highly apologize that the cargo bag didn't work well. You can use 2 lashing straps or the excess straps to replace the less strap. Fix them where the less strap should be fixed. We recommend that you transfer clothing, electronic equipment and other items that cannot be wetted into the car. Or wrap them in plastic bags to prevent damage."If it's waterproof, as it's advertised as, then why should someone have to wrap them in plastic bags? The water soaked through our duffle bags.Definitely being returned.

The last few years ive owned a rigid cargo carrier that i thought was great while using it but afterwards I had to store it, it takes up a ton of space. Thats where soft shell cargo carriers really have a massive advantage. They fold up into a much smaller area that you can esseentially keep on the top shelf of your closet when not being used.There are are other advantages to using a soft shell one, mainly its flexible so you can put things in that normally wouldnt fit inside a hard shell. Since its flexible to a degree, this gives you an ability to squeeze the sides in a bit to extend it lengthwise. The downsize is that it is still fabric and if you live in a high crime area, someone may end up cutting it open with a knife to steal your bags of clothes.Now this Fruno cargo carrier is a fantastic soft shell cargo carrier that really stands out from the ones ive seen in local stores. It offers a wide range of advantages, such as including extra accessories for people that dont have a roof rack and need to carry extra baggage. It also is more secure on your foot with better quality straps than other ones. I like that it includes cinch straps that tie up the loose excess strapping.The biggest benefit to this design is that when you dont have a full cargo carrier, since its soft shell, the cargo carrier decreases in height and size. The smaller the cargo carrier the more aerodynamic your vehicle is. While all cargo carriers will affect your aerodynamics and gas mileage, being able to actively reduce it such as with this one is a big advantage. The other thing is the material is made of a smooth, plastic like coated fabric, this minimizes resistance through the air, allows it to be water resistant(wouldn't drive your car into a lake for example) and also makes it quieter. The zipper is definitely a premium one, quality comparable to ones ive used on my commercial construction bag and will last a lifetime. The zipper also has its own cover.Overall though, this is a great soft shell cargo carrie, its made with quality materials and is set at an affordable price. Im very happy with mine and im sure you will be happy with it too!

Our new SUV came with roof rails, however we did not have the cross bars. This cargo bag was exactly what we were looking for as it offers us a huge amount of space while still being collapsible while still in use.Because we are a growing family, we were looking to expand our storage space for when we go away. Because we are trapped at home during this pandemic, we have been going camping a lot more and could definitely use the space. One thing worth mentioning about this is because it sits on your roof, it will rub whatever is on your roof onto your paint. There is an included mesh mat that acts as a cushion between the roof and the bag, however it is definitely a good idea to clean the roof beforehand to reduce the potential damage that would be done to your paint.The included straps for tightening everything down completely are great to have, as very rarely will we actually fill this to the brim. Because of how the roof bag is designed it would be hard to completely fill, so helping compact and tighten things down is a great idea. All of the zippers worked without catching, and I am very pleased with it so far.

This roof rack was so easy to install on my Ford Escape and freed up so much space in my SUV for our family road trip! We drove more than 1000km in all sorts of weather with zero issues. Best part? It is so compact and easy to store after (as compared to hard shell roof carriers!). Definitely recommend.

This is a perfect heavy duty cargo carrier that is light-weight, simple to set up and use, and highly effective.I have been using this carrier with a ford escape with excellent results. It’s much easier to set this carrier up than other hard shell design carriers, one person alone can easily set this carrier up. It comes with all the necessary accessories to be used with almost any type of vehicle. It will work with vehicles that have any type of roof rack, or not rack at all. The set includes a good quality, anti-slip mat that also protects the vehicle from damage. The carrier is fairly large and can hold a lot of items, making it a great solution for camping, road trips, and even moving. It’s waterproof, durable, and has excellent smooth moving no snag zippers. I am very happy with this carrier, it works perfectly and is exactly as described.

The FRUNO 2021 Rooftop Cargo Carrier Bag comes wrapped in a medium-sized package. I was surprised how compact this was, but once it was fully unfolded the dimensions are accurate at 44x32 inches. This is a pretty generous space, enough to fit, several pieces of luggage, sleeping bags, and tents, as well as other miscellaneous items.The roof carrier was easy to install on my Mazda 3. It's attached very securely with the straps. The material is super durable and weatherproof. This is a great, inexpensive solution for those cars that do not have rails and crossbars. It's also much less expensive than the Thule and similar carriers. On the downside, it doesn't look as nice or clean as those ones, with all the straps from the side. But it's been great so far and I can't wait to use it for camping and cottaging, since we used to vacuum air seal all our clothes and bedding, to fit everything inside the car. Full marks from me!
