It's impossible for me to write comprehensive reviews of every story contained within the Books of Blood but they really were the announcement of an amazing writer who would bring many fantastical and horrific worlds to life, even though a few were adapted into so-so movies they couldn't begin to compare, If you love Clive Barker or are new to literary horror these are honestly absolute essentials. Still an amazing writer even if he has moved away from horror in recent times this is an unabashed 100% recommendation of a writer even Stephen King endorsed. Fantastic books. Well worth a read. Delivered quickly

Re-reading these after they were new and fresh I find them to be a little annoying in their attempts to forge a reputation for a new author,a little effortful.Not at all bad,but perhaps my tastes,like Barker's,have moved on from this form of horror,although in all fairness,there are some vivid ,well imagined,and original ideas in these volumes.I prefer Lovecraft these days,but I wouldn't call these bad by any means,just occasionally a little too obvious there's an effort to impress being made.
