After hours of hammering and attempting to remove my chair cylinder with a wrench, I bit the bullet and bought this tool. It took about 20 minutes (because I didn't tighten it enough the first attempt) and was as easy as, well, tightening a bolt. Cylinder popped right out EZ PZ. Do note though, this does not help in removing the cylinder from the chair wheel base. That still takes some good whacks with a hammer.

Works exactly as advertised, and makes seat repairs easy.

I've taken chairs apart a few times and it always needs monkey wrenches and hammers. I have a tool that goes around the cylinder to give you a nice big ledge to whack with a mini-sledge hammer - That tool is now retired. These shaft collars are a simple idea but they work great. No more hammering, no more days of marinating parts in penetrating oil, just put them on the lift-cylinder and make sure the bottom one is tight and your chair comes apart like magic as you alternate tightening-up the 2 push-bolts.

The original gas cylinder for my desk chair was worn out, hopelessly stuck, and was not going to budge. After watching numerous YouTube videos and trying multiple tools (pipe wrenches, channel locks, mallets, etc.) I was ready to throw the chair in the trash and start over. Thankfully I read about these removal tools online and decided to give it a try. This sturdy gadget worked flawlessly and my replacement cylinder was installed in no time. I'm going to label this thing and keep it for another day, because gas cylinders eventually wear out. Highly recommended!
