very bright but unreliable
Very bright indeed, Too bright in some circumstances - one can lose one's night vision very easily. Unfortunately the 'rotating the head' method of turning on and off doesn't work very reliably. It keeps cutting out.

I previously owned one of these torches (as well as a 2xc cell one) which I upgraded with an led kit, which improved it considerably but these proper Mag-Lite ones are a lot better, I could not believe the light output for such a small torch and they are tough too.

Excellent product. I've used it far more than I expected even using it to check for air leaks in my flute! Very bright. Batteries wont last too long though so bring spares if you're out over 1.5hours at night using it constantly.
