does this emit fumes when cut by a laser?

Yes, this material makes great shoe inserts. As others have said, it is extremely easy to cut with a dremel tool. You just have to choose the thickness based on what you want to achieve. I found that the thickness of this material is very comparable to the same thickness precut insert. I used the 1.5mm and the insert was just a little bit stiffer than a 1.6mm precut insert that I am replacing and a good bit more flexible than one I have that is 2.2mm.
