Luna Guitars UKE HTT 8 Satin 8 String High Tide Tenor Ukulele

Bought one of these as a work leaving present - I'd seen a few video reviews, heard good things about Luna ukes, so bought one.Now, I like to modify my ukes, so...first up was carefully and gently using 0000 grade wire wool over the body and fretboard to get rid of any grittiness (I'll agree with another reviewer, it was a bit rough, but I've had other well-know makes in the same state), replaced the saddle with an ebony item from Amazon, dropped the height of the nut (makes an 8-string more playable - always a good thing to do, go to a luthier who will work wonders with the string height), upgraded the tuning machines to Gotoh UK12 items (not a cheap replacement, the originals were pretty rough but would hold tune well, so this was more personal choice), and changed the strings to a set of Aquila 119U LAVA SERIES strings.Now all this may sound extreme, but I've now got a good looking (yes the front is darker than the sides, but this makes it stand out), great sounding (not just me, almost all of my ukulele group commented on how good it sounds!) that I LOVE. No joke, I'm not being paid to say this - if you can handle the work or are prepared to let someone do it for you, this ukulele has great possibilities, but was pretty damn good out of the box.

This 8 string tenor ukulele has a great full sound with the strings positioned close to the fret board which makesPlaying chords and fingering very easy with little effort. It has a great look along with built in pickup to enable it to be hooked up to an amplifier. The sound quality with the extra strings is amazing and puts a new dimention into ukulele playing especially for those who like playing solo. Although an 8 string ukulele would be more apprpriate for thoseWho like to strum chords, I have found it just as easy to be able to finger pick, most finger picking patterns and is great for playing chord solos as a result. I have found this ukulele to be a quality piece of hardware and for the cheaper price of most other 8 string ukulele's good value for money and puts some of the more expensive makes to shame. A great addition to any ukulele players arsenal.

I bought this uke on Saturday night and was delivered on Tuesday morning by myhermes,a very quick dispatch.after looking at various reviews for 8 string ukuleles,I came across a review of the luna on YouTube,and this made my mind up.I bought the uke for a bargain 130 pounds.I needed to tune it in when I first got it,but it has stayed in tune since.it is very easy to strum or to pick and has a lovely tone to it.over all I am very happy with this ukulele.

Played well and had a good sound but unfortunately the pick up didn't work so I had to send it back. Shame. I would have kept it otherwiseI later got a replacement that did work and it has been my go to amongst my uke collection. The G and C and octave apart strings while E and A are doubles. Good EQ and sounds great plugged in. Bag a little bit thin and flimsy which is the main thing that lets this down. Aoart from that great 8 string uke for the price

This is a true 8 string ukulele. The closeness of the string pairings make it easy to play any chord that is playable on a four string ukulele. However, playing tabulations is difficult for all but the adroit finger picker! The finish was excellent. However, the lack of any set up instructions meant a search for the correct tuning. To save others looking it is G, G -, C +, C, E, E, A, A (where G - is low and C + is high). Although this gives a lovely full chorus sound when playing some tunes, it can be too much for others. I returned mine for this reason as I mainly play in a large sing along group.

I wasn't happy when this one arrived. It should have been sent back, but I need this instrument on the night, and had already paid extra ££ for Express Delivery (which was awesome and right on time).The problem is NO QUALITY CONTROL at the Luna factory. This uke should have never been sent out. The nut was not filed down properly on the bass and treble sides, and it hurt my left hand to play. I have never owned an instrument that was so uncomfortable to play. I had to file it down myself. I also think the strings were put on in correctly. I'd have put the bass strings on the left-hand side of the pairs on 4 and 3, but they are on the right. I plan to change the strings shortly. The supplied strings are GHS, as another reviewer has said.I love the idea of this instrument, but it was all executed badly at Luna. It is a great-sounded 8-string, and the price point is fair -- provided it comes out of the box in a playable condition. Mine was nowhere near the right tuning. I feel it had never been tuned properly. All the guts of the pickup wiring were visible in the sound hole. All this could have been pushed back or secured in the cavity. Again, it just seemed like the whole thing had been rushed to the dealer. I expected more at this price.UPDATE on 17 March 2017: It's a little over a year since I gave this uke 3 starts. I've taken one off because the bridge was pulled off by string tension yesterday. I've attached some photos of the top, the underside of the bridge, and the hole and damaged laminate. The force of the snap tossed the uke from its stand in our front room. The strings had been on for six months and were tuned to pitch. The bridge pickup was also pulled free when the top snapped.I spent a day deliberating on repairs, when I decided to phone Amazon. They could not have been more helpful, and immediately offered a full refund on a sale that took place 15 months prior. I did not choose another Luna HTT8. I don't want to go through this again. I miss the sound of those eight strings, but it's not worth the hassle. I chose a solid top 4-string tenor this time.

Fabulous ukulele. Superb value great sound whether plugged in or not. Can't praise it high enough. Superb playing action. This goes to all my gigs
