It is not leather. I actually am not sure but it is a synthetic material. It does smudge from the oils/lotions on my fingers -- not a lot, but some.

This eyeglass holder is outstanding for protecting my “ clip-on” sunglasses that attach to my prescription glasses. The case is very sturdy & does not bend. It is very thin from top to bottom so it takes up minimal room in my cargo pants. Even fits my adult mens small frame prescription glasses - though thats the largest that will fit.
