An interesting and pleasant fragrance
The first thing I noticed upon opening the pot is the interesting and pleasant smell this product has.I do find it a bit of a challenge to be able to remove a bit of product to use with a finger. It is helpful and far easier to have a blunt knife to scoop a little out instead.Unsure as to why this is called a pomade as it resembles a dense clay structure in appearance and a pomade is usually a greasy, waxy or gel type of substance. The first time I applied it I ended up with a blob in one area of my hair. Even though I had rubbed the bit I took between my palms before applying it to my hair. Maybe I had to needed to rub my palms together for longer. Anyway, I did manage to distribute the heavier deposited bit of product and spread it out throughout my hair. The product seems fine. I do think the amount given is on the small side and a larger amount at this price should be given. However, it is more of a premium brand.

A Nice Clay Pomade Hybrid
The hair clay is inside a brown small glass jar with a screw top, it has the Apothecary sticker wrapped around with information on how best to apply the clay, on the underside is the list of ingredients and no nasties jump out at me so that is a step in the right direction. The jar is small and contains 50ml, a small thumbnail amount goes a long way so the jar should last 2 months of daily use, I have 1"-2" hair length on average on the top of my head then I have a No1 short back/sides.I fully dry my hair using a hairdryer after a shower and use a pair of straighteners on the top and my fringe to add the lift (I cringe at the thought of using them but it gives me the best results). The clay pomade spreads through my thick hair easily and offers a medium to low hold throughout the day, I would say it does not add much volume or texture and it's a low sheen, the clay does dissolve fairly easy in my hair.Main ingredients are Bees Wax, Kaolin Clay, Petroleum and fragrance, the fragrance is of vanilla and mango.Overall, it's a decent clay hybrid that performs fairly well, a bit costly when compared to other alternatives that are priced the same, it won’t be replacing my favourite go to clay though, thank you.

Really good hair clay
I’ve included a before photo so that you can see how my 7-year-old has his hair normally, and then an after photo to show what this clay achieved! He went to a party after this product was applied, and they did pillow fights etc, so naturally it did end up quite squashed down again, but he raced into our bedroom the following morning to wake me up and tell me that his hair was spikey again - exactly what I wanted to hear at 6.20am. But good that the clay can be ‘reworked’!This is a bit more expensive than I’d usually get, but the smell is nice (not too overpowering) and it does work well. It doesn’t wash off your hands that easily (I had to use a bit of fairy liquid), but it washed out of his hair easily and left no residue.

Nice Clay Pomade
Having quite long, thick curly hair it's always difficult when you want to use hair products like these to find one that doesn't make your hair look greasy or end up sticky / causing hair to snag / knot anymore than curly hair normally does do through the day.I generally use oil based pomades when needed as previous experience with clay products seemed to leave product residue in my hair along with making it obvious there was product in it.Like other reviewers have said, this item makes your hair matte looking and does the trick no end! It smells really good though, and I can't stress this enough, a little goes a real long way. If you use too much then your hair will reflect this, at least for me.Had never heard of this brand before if I'm honest but will take a further look at their products in future. All in all am well impressed and my hair looks a treat every time I use it.

Great for medium length hair
This 'Clay Pomade' has the consistency of a clay/fibre - it's pretty dense initially and so takes a bit of finger strength to dig out a decent amount. Once it's on your hands though, you just rub your hands together to heat it and melt it until you get an even spread on your hands. From there, you can layer it into your hair.I'd say the pomade effect (that I usually see as wet/glossy) is minimal and this product leans much more towards the clay/fibre end of things. This means that you end up with hair that has a boost of volume, medium hold and a matte finish. This is perfect for those natural 'wind swept' looks.Overall, I think this is a really good product for medium length hair.
