Is the memory maintained when you change the battery?

I have just checked my memory store to see that there was something in it, I then removed the battery (there are 4 x AAA types) for 15 seconds and put the battery back in and turned on...the last memory was retained so there must be a small backup battery somewhere within the unit. I would expect the backup would not last long though.

Where is this made? Does it say on the package?
