THE best instant decaf! - NO close seconds
This is, by far, the best instant decaf I've ever had. And I've tried many, including Taster's Choice, Folgers, Nescafe, Community, Trader Joes and others. As soon as the seal is broken you can smell a pleasant coffee aroma. Then, each time a teaspoon of crystals is added to a cup of hot water the aroma returns. My favorite is to add an ounce or two of chocolate almond milk of a very smooth, tasty cup of mocha. It's on the pricey side but well worth it; just bought three more jars. Also love that it is organic, fair-trade and super decaffeinated.

Delicious!
This instant decaf coffee is really excellent. When brewing a cup from grounds isn't convenient, this is a fast, delicious alternative. We have really enjoyed the convenience and the taste. Forget what you think you know about instant coffee. The price is reasonable for the quality product.

Ethical Sourcing Can't Overcome Weak Flavor Profile
Mount Hagen's organic freeze-dried decaf appealed to me for its impressive ethical credentials - fair trade, organic certification, and eco-friendly practices align perfectly with my values. The company's commitment to sustainable sourcing and environmental responsibility makes this an attractive choice for conscious consumers seeking responsibly-produced coffee alternatives. What I appreciate about this product is the clean ingredient list and the peace of mind that comes from supporting fair-trade practices. The freeze-drying process preserves more flavor compounds than traditional instant coffee methods, and the organic certification ensures no synthetic pesticides or chemicals in the growing process. The packaging is appropriately sized for trying without major investment. However, the coffee itself falls short of expectations for flavor and satisfaction. Despite the superior processing method, the taste remains notably weak and somewhat artificial compared to fresh-brewed decaf or even some conventional instant coffees. The body lacks richness, and there's a slight metallic aftertaste that becomes more pronounced as the coffee cools. The instant preparation is convenient, dissolving completely in hot water without grittiness. The caffeine removal process appears effective for those sensitive to stimulants. The 3.53oz jar provides reasonable value for the premium organic and fair-trade certifications. While I want to support the ethical practices this company represents, the coffee quality makes it difficult to recommend for regular consumption. The weak flavor profile doesn't deliver the satisfying coffee experience most people seek, even in decaf format. Consider if ethical sourcing is your primary concern, but expect compromised flavor compared to other decaf options.

Bold and flavorful organic instant decaf
Mount Hagen is becoming my staple for a quick decaf in the afternoon. Simply use hot tap water and stir in a teaspoon. It covers all my checkboxes for being organic, fair-trade, instant and decaf. It is a bit pricey but not compared to brands with similar pedigrees. Biggest thing is that it just tastes good, which is what we're all after anyways!

Kind of pricey, but totally worth it!
I switched to instant decaf coffee awhile ago due to health issues, to cut down on my caffeine consumption. Then, I thought- if I’m drinking decaf coffee that has been decaffeinated with a bunch of chemicals- how is that “healthier”? I started shopping around for non-chemical instant decaf coffee. The non-chemical stuff is quite a bit more expensive, because anything, it seems, that is more chemical and additive free is always more pricey than the stuff loaded with additives and chemicals. And this Mount Hagen decaf was no exception. But I thought hey- I’ll try it. And- ladies and gentlemen- this instant decaf is absolutely worth the higher price. First of all- and I don’t know how- this stuff is so much more concentrated compared to the instant decaf I had been drinking. I don’t know if it has to do with this instant looking like it dried at the production plant into tiny cube-like “chunks” as opposed to the little crystal-looking flakes of regular decaf- I have no idea- but it tastes SO much stronger than my regular instant decaf. Whereas I would use at least two and a half heaping tablespoons of regular, supermarket decaf (I like my coffee iced- this decaf, by the way, dissolves beautifully in cold water- I make my iced coffee in a 25 ounce insulated tumbler, with lots of room for ice and sugar-free creamer) the same amount of the Mount Hagen decaf tasted SO much stronger. Like- a lot stronger. As in “Whoa- I used WAY too much of that!” stronger. And I like my coffee strong-tasting. After I adjusted the amount to about half of what I would use of supermarket decaf, the flavor was perfect. Really good, in fact. So while 3.5 ounces of instant coffee for almost thirteen dollars sounded pretty outrageous to me even as I was placing my order, after tasting this coffee, the price totally made sense. This jar, judging by the taste, is going to be equal probably to two 3 ounce jars of supermarket instant decaf. And I do like a lot of coffee taste in my coffee. The jar should last a long time. One thing to note- the lid does twist off the jar, but when it comes time to putting the lid back on, it doesn’t twist back on, which would be logical. It *snaps* back on. I stood at the counter fiddling with the lid for quite some time before I figured this out, so just wanted to pass this observation along. And— its the most delicious-tasting decaf coffee I’ve ever tasted! It has a rich, full coffee flavor. Every instant decaf brand I’ve tried from the giant store that starts with a W- and I’ve tried at least five different brands- has been ok at first taste, but then has a bitter aftertaste. This Mount Hagen coffee has no bitter aftertaste. I was surprised, actually, at how good it tasted. I had become used to cheapie big box store decaf. Also, knowing it hasn’t been decaffeinated with who-knows-what nasty substances makes it taste even better. The “clean” decaffeinating process also justifies its higher cost, in my opinion. I’m not 20 years old any more, and I try to be aware of everything I put into my body. I try to do the best I can with this, and am making changes to replace things I consume that are not so healthy for me with healthier choices (when I can afford it.) And this Mount Hagen instant decaf coffee is a great, and yes, due to its more concentrated nature, more affordable healthy change. If you are on the fence about trying this coffee, due to its cost- go for it. You won’t be disappointed. It’s great stuff.

Great decaf
Love the flavor of this. It's hard to find good decaf coffee. I like making lattes with it.

Tastes exactly like regular coffee
Tastes just like real coffee, maybe even better than some "real" brewed coffee. It's pretty strong too, the label says add 1-2 tsp, but in your standard tea/coffee mug, 1 or 1.5tsp is plenty strong for me, never had to go up to 2tsp. The jar is bigger than it looks in the picture. I was expecting a tiny spice jar, but it's a nice glass jar (not plastic!) that's about the size of my hand. I'm pretty sensitive to caffeine, and after drinking a few cups I'm confident this stuff has either negligible or zero caffeine in it. Overall 10/10

Really good. I was an occasional coffee drinker so my grounds were going to waste after sitting there for a while and I'd have to toss them. I thought I'd find a healthy instant decaf that would last longer and I found this one. Its so good I'm drinking it daily now. Will buy again.

Love the taste of this coffee. It is strong but not bitter, no aftertaste. I used a half teaspoon in my latte and it was perfect. Smooth and creamy and no caffeine so I’m enjoying this in the late afternoon! It is expensive but at the amount I use I’m okay with it for now. Still reasonable compared to Starb…., my favourite. Thank you.

Expensive at first but still way cheaper than buying a coffee every morning at Tim's or McD's. Plus, this one is ORGANIC and tastes great. Trust me, when it comes to coffee, you want organic to avoid consuming all the presicides and other contaminates!

This coffee is SMOOTH, MILD TASTING, NOT TOO RICH and very enjoyable ,The price is quite steep but 1 Cup a day should last at least 3+weeks now just got to get a subscription going.
