This is a top class book for the first three ...

This is a top class book for the first three chapters alone on the Kilkenny mindset, psyche and the way they go about their business in a low profile manner. I wish Limerick would adopt their principles. In general the book can be best described a present day update of the book 'Hurling - The Revolution Years' written by Denis Walsh a decade ago. Unlike Denis Walsh, Damian Lawlor does not ignore Limerick, nor does he ignore a host of other hurling counties. Some counties may not be realistically competing for the McCarthy Cup, but there are structural improvements taking place and Lawlor has detailed them through first hand accounts with those in the know within those counties, a policy he has also adopted with the stronger counties. A top class read, a top class hurling book, and one that freely discusses, acknowledges and verifies many of the spoken about grapevine rumours pertaining to each county in the past decade or so.If you are from Dublin, Galway, Clare, Waterford, Cork, Limerick, Wexford, Offaly, Kilkenny, Antrim, Laois or Carlow, then this book is for you. Indeed if you are a hurling supporter in general, you will love this book. It outlines through first hand account what each county has been up to on the field, off the field and politically in the boardroom. Perhaps Down and Westmeath may feel they merited inclusion but Lawlor deserves credit for widening the net to include those that he has included. Remember as mentioned above, and we dont forget in Limerick, the Munster Champions of 1994 and 1996 did not merit inclusion in Hurling the Revolution Years by Denis Walsh.Dont just sit there. Average

Poorly told story with a number of factual inaccuracies and nothing about Kilkenny that we didn't already know.

Excellent read but not quite 5 because....

I bought this book on my kindle to bring on holidays and finished it in two sittings at the pool as i couldnt put it down. My one fault with the book is that the author often expresses opinions as if they were definite facts. Overall though it was a brilliant read for anyone who loves hurling. 4.5/5
