A Thought-Provoking and Accessible Read on Diet & Mental Health
Change Your Diet, Change Your Mind by Dr. Georgia Ede is an excellent and eye-opening exploration of the powerful connection between what we eat and how we feel. As someone who has already been avoiding ultra-processed foods for general health, this book helped solidify my decision to move toward a ketogenic diet—not just for physical benefits, but for mental clarity and overall well-being.While the subject matter is rooted in science and can be quite technical at times, Dr. Ede does a great job of breaking it down in a way that’s both accessible and engaging. Her insights are backed by solid research, and she presents them in a balanced, thoughtful manner.I’d highly recommend this book to anyone curious about the link between diet and mental health—whether you're just starting out on your health journey or looking to deepen your understanding of how nutrition impacts the brain.

Best book to change your life once and for all!
I was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder in 2015. And since then I had been struggling to try and find a way to heal myself, through many types of diets and lifestyles (I never took well to meds and refused to take them) I tried veganism, I tried a well balanced diet, and they all failed. And then I found carnivore.Long story short, carnivore has put my borderline symptoms into remission, however, I have found it very difficult to stick to the diet because of obvious SUGAR ADDICTION.Which brings me to the reason why this book is LIFE CHANGING!I have always been the kind of person that can only follow an order/orders/structure or rule, if I understand the WHY behind it.What this book offers is a VERY DETAILED description of what sugar and processed foods are actually doing to our bodies and brains and it dives deep into the mechanics of it all enough to make it extremely clear as to why we SHOULD NOT be eating any of that stuff. This book gets into the nitty gritty of things and explains why one would benefit from removing certain food groups from one’s life entirely and making a complete u turn in life when it comes to nutrition and lifestyle.Since reading this book I have been able to stick to eating an animal based diet and keep at it, simple because Dr Georgia has explained in detail what is happening in my brain everytime I load it with processed junk and I now have a clear idea of what is happening and to be quiet frank, the seriousness of what is happening everytime I spike my insulin and load my body and brain up with glucose. It’s SCARY and I DO NOT WANT TO CONTINUE TO PUT MY BODY THROUGH THAT STRESS.And end up in my older years with no memory and on a lifetime of meds because of something I could have changed now in my 30s.I have never read a book so impactful and I am not one to review many things in life at all.But this one deserves all the accolades and honestly is PRICELESS.Thank you very much Dr Georgia for the work you do.Do not hesitate to buy this book.If you’re serious about your lifestyle change and are suffering severe mental illness like I have and would like to finally heal and say goodbye to anxiety, depression, bpd, bipolar, whatever it is you’re trying to free yourself from. This book is a huge help for that!

Valuable resource filled with knowledge and guidance
A valuable book on its subject and written with knowledge, depth and breadth. It's also written with care and warmth, making it an enjoyable read, and gives many ideas and options for those who want to try using their diet to improve their mental health. I originally got the book out of professional interest, but decided to give the keto diet in it a try out of curiosity. As someone who already eats less grains than the standard Westerner, I was surprised to find I am gaining benefits from the diet and am continuing with it to see how this pans out longer term .My only quibble with the book is a fuller index at the back would have been useful. A lot of ground is covered in the book and it can be hard to refer back to a particular passage when you want to reread it.The book will be useful to anyone who wants to discover whether or not their diet affects their mental health.

technical and iconoclastic and very absorbing
Very absorbing is a good way to describe the book as many of the points relate to how well, if at all, we absorb nutrients from foods well established as "super" or "healthy". The text is split into different types of foods and systematically breaks down their elements and how they react in the human body. It is interesting to note how heavily influenced we are, even now, by old advice by public health bodies. Meat and eggs established as best foods (to put it crudely) and interesting points to note such a flaxseeds contain cyanide and how plants in general have defensive mechanism which can be bad for us. Not what I would call a light read but certainly a very worthwhile one if you have an interest in this area.

Essential reading
I think it's impossible to overstate how important this book is if you have a mental health condition. You must read it, as you will gain invaluable help should you choose to follow her diet plans. Trust me, they work.Dr Ede writes incredibly engagingly and provides us with a lot of information but without any whiff of overwhelm. She has a real gift of conveying complex information simply and accessibly. It is genuinely one of the best books on nutrition and health that I have ever read, and I have read a lot of them! The book should also be required reading for all GPs, therapists, psychiatrists, and mental health workers. It would stop a lot of the stigma and iatrogenic harm if they stopped medicating and dismissing people and instead used Dr Ede's plans to work with patients to genuinely improve their mental and physical health.
