Wax Resist Sticks - 5 Pack

I am by no means a professional artist, but upon receiving these today I felt compelled to give them a go; and as you can see by the picture they do a lovely job at creating waves and fluidity to a picture... Ideal for smaller projects but maybe not for larger ones... Over all I can say I am happy with my purchase though in fairness a candle would do the same or a childs white crayon.

although these are brilliant wax sticks they are very small for the price.

I love these wax resist sticks for mixed media arting - they're such a fun layer to have underneath watercolour, and when I rub the dry watercolour it reveals what I've resisted beneath. The sticks are smaller than a small wax crayon, but that's no disadvantage to me - they're robust and travel well, and are a really handy supply.

My only comment is that these great wax resist sticks are just not long enough, not so easy to use this short, otherwise perfect!!

I was delighted that these had reappeared on-site after not being available for a long time. They are really useful for masking out small details on watercolour paper that won't accept masking fluid and l sometimes use them to achieve the texture of weathered paint or rocks. They are very small - about two thirds of the size of the average wax crayon - so are uneconomic for covering large areas. However I personally feel that this technique is best used sparingly with watercolour as wax is both indelible and shiny but can be tremendously effective.

Cheap price

They work well but I was surprised how small they are. Saying that, they are easier to hold than a bulky crayon
