Only had it a few hours so far...
So it came this Afternoon. A little background-I went totally deaf at the age of 7. Did not start wearing a hearing aid until I was 12 or 13. I've had some very good ones and some really crappy ones-my latest came from Beltone, not a top-of-the-line model. I am on Disability due to vision problems, a stroke and having had complete Renal failure due to Diabetes since I was 22mos old. I'm 53 now so I've worn many hearing aids over the years. The Beltone was using 1980's technology-I could hear the waves emitted by the Theft Detectors at WalMart and could hardly carry on a conversation-as it aged over the last four years it got progressivly worse-start out out then an hour or so later it sounded like I had water in my ears. Unfortunately I lost it last week while moving som stuff-a beige hearing aid and brown leaves do not stand apart. So I ordered this-first the price was good and my budget, being minimal allowed for it. I've used Hearing Enhancers in the past with mixed luck. I am 60% deaf on my hearing aid side-other side is gone so this has to make up that percentage of loss. I am very pleased at this point-yes, some noises are harsh-doors slammed or items dropped on the floor can be jarring but overall the sound is very good-better than the Beltone . Conversations are clear, headphones with the PC are clear as is the TV. Might be too loud for some but, if you have severe hearing loss as I do it might be a life/Hob saver for you.*Update* Three months in-3 Battery changes. Not something I have ever managed with a standard Hearing Aid, average for those is once a week and I run it on "Hi" and wear it 18hrs a day both in the house and working outside.I did have an issue and they resolved it-suddenly it sounded 'plugged up' or muted. Years of experience with Aids I have all the tools and even a vacuum chamber to remove Debris such as Wax or Grit. No joy on my side. They replaced it in less than a week. Very Courteous service and quick response including Emails on the weekend. Is this going to work for everyone? Certainly not-sort of like driving a Stickshift, however, with a little patience and getting used to it should work for many.Good product and great company providing it.Update:So mine lasted a year. I noticed a couple of months ago it was getting a bit more Muted-some of that is the last battery pack I bought was the cheapest WallyWorld had-don'tDoThat. The decent batteries last a month-cheap ones might last a month but will be pretty bad by then.So I had been planning on buying a few of these for safe-keeping but had not had the funds. Friend gave me an Azon gift card and one item I ordered this past Saturday was another Britzgo. The year old one failed this morning but I think I can fixit-need to open it up and really clean it out and check connctions, no big deal but I was stuck without till 30 minutes ago when my new one got here. Talk about Timing.Oh, I work outside in all sorts of weather and noise conditions and it made a year easilly with all that so-nothing but compliments from me.

A Good Bargain - only one (surmountable) complaint
I've been wearing a professional (=$$$$) hearing aid in my left ear (Meniere's disease) for over 15 years. Got another professional one for my right ear about 5 years ago. Was pretty satisfied with the left one. Hated the right (newer) one because it had no on/off switch... had to rotate the battery out every time I wanted to turn it off (battery would then proceed to drop out also contact became erratic). When the newer unit eventually failed I was not too sorry to see it go. Some have commented on this unit as problematic in wind due to lack of noise cancelling capability. I had the same problem with my two professional units... hard to hear much of anything when outside on a windy day with the whistling in my ears. The unit under review here seems well made. I does have an on/off switch (Yay!). No indication that it has loop capabilities (e.g. for some phones and theaters) but I seldom used that on my professional units anyway. It's about twice as big as my professional units (but not obtrusive) and I would hardly call the case "Compact" but it does its job and doesn't appear to rely on tiny plastic pins as hinges that break easily (and render the case useless). My one complaint is due to the fact that my ear openings are small and even the smallest of the 3 different-sized ear domes is too large. I've had to create my own by adapting plugs from my now-defunct unit for this. A couple of minor annoyances: 1) The on/off switch goes in the opposite direction of my first unit (seems like they could get a standard for that) and 2) This takes a larger battery than the one size I had used for my 2 professional units (now I have to stock 2 different size batteries).Compared to the professional units this is a real bargain at a fraction of the price (e.g. ~ 2%) and I hear fine with it.

From Long Use Of This Type I Choose To Say Below:
I have been using this type Britzgo hearing device for years. Considering the low prices of devices and batteries, I find them useful and convenient.1. The wearer doesn't need any help to fit or use them. They are simple to use and wear.2. They are bulky enough that I don't loose them, as opposed to using completely-in-ear equipment.3. I have reached an age & am of such a sex (male) at which I don't care if people can see I use them.4. I use regular, fungible LR44 batteries that last a week or more. They are easy, cheap to obtain on internet5. As war vet I qualify for expensive, in-ear, free- of- charge type. But those are easily misplaced or lost.6. When I lose or wear-out a Britzgo, I simply replace it for $50.00 out of my own pocket. No hassle.7. I get mine via Amazon within a day or two.8. Britzgo sells higher priced models. But the kind I wear work well enough for me.9. I use them all day every day. They'll last at least a year or two.10. I am so accustomed to this type that I never look for others.11. You might get better results from types costing $1000, $2000. But I am well satisfied by the Britzgos.12. I have worn them VERY BRIEFLY by mistake in the shower a few times. I dry them off and they still work.13. One will work in either ear. It is simple to adjust.14. Read the directions closely before use and you'll most likely have no trouble.15. Take enough time to become acclimated to them before returning them.16. I absolutely need these devices to hear. Am more than slightly deaf. Condition was progressive.17. I get no freebies from Britzgo. I have liked the service I get at low cost. So I offer the above.Ron Parsons, J.D.Atty. at Law (Ret.)Fredericksburg, Virginia
