Exceeded expectations
I had a great time with this build! The submarine itself is very detailed interior design, including missiles, torpedoes, nuclear reactors, control room, meeting room, and even a little periscope. I also liked the stickers it came with as they seemed pretty appropriate to what you would imagine to be going on inside a nuclear attack submarine. The build itself took me about an hour or so for each bag so 5 to 6 hours total and that is with organizing the pieces before building each section (total 4). It’s set up similar to the Lego system where each main section is separated so it’s pretty organized. The instruction book itself is pretty easy to read and follow. The bricks themselves stick very well, things weren’t just falling off like you would find with some of the other brands outside of Legos. Matter fact, they stick to well so you have to be careful when putting down the parts because a few times I placed a piece in the wrong spot, and it took me a while to get it off. I ask liked the lighting feature it came with. Additionally, there are no extra pieces so if you lose something you’re out of luck but – I like knowing that I had every piece accounted for after finishing each section. The creator of this build did a great job engineering each part so everything works well together. The completed model itself is very sturdy and heavy. It’s very detailed and reminded me of a Lego ideas project. When I get a chance, I’m going to see what else this company has available because I was super satisfied with their product. This builds really set a bar for all the other ones I will do after.

Challenging and detailed!
This was a challenging but very satisfying model to build. It is not for the "faint of heart". I have built several Lego "Creator Expert" and "Ideas" models, and this was more challenging. Most of the 1500 pieces are small. It takes some "finicking" and a small pair of needle nose pilers to assemble some. I strongly recommend cementing the bottom level and everything on it. Plastic model cement works fine and does not melt the plastic together in case you need to separate pieces after. If I built it again, I would cement the entire model. There are only a couple of parts that need to move on it. Cementing is recommended since the model is not really stable until you get the second, and sometimes the third level built. Also, the model is just over 2 feet long. Working on a model 2 feet long and about 2 inches in diameter without cementing the pieces results in sections coming apart as you work on the next. And grasping a lower section while snapping in upper pieces or section will result in pieces coming off. The front torpedoes, especially. I built the plastic model of a nuclear submarine the showed the entire interior when I was in high school (many years ago), so building this gave me much of satisfaction. In respect to my ratings, it is NOT easy to assemble and would not give it as a gift to anyone less than age 16. But if you are a Master Builder and looking for a challenge, this is for you!

Don't be thrown off by a brand you may not have heard of.. This was a fun build.
I have to admit that I was a little skeptical of a brand that i have not previously heard of, but I really liked the idea of building a submarine. This model did not disappoint. I don't think I would hesitate to buy another JMBricklayer model after my experience with this one. I think I was missing one piece, but it was a very common color and size, and had plenty of extra pieces from other kits that I have put together. This was challenging, and I did find myself going back looking at prior steps to see if I had misplaced a piece somewhere, and I think I found that I had quite a few times. The instructions are more dense that the name brand (not sure if I can say the name here) but if you take you time, and think about what you are doing, you shouldn't have any problems. Overall a great build. I would estimate that it took me about 18-20 hours over the course of a month. I was doing other things while building the sub, so I could probably have completed it a little quicker if I was only working on it. I would post a picture, but it would just look like every one else's. I didn't really have a problem with blocks sticking together. The first get levels may be a bit challenging because you end up with something that's almost 24" long and it's like 3 to 4 layers thick and very "flexible". It may have to build the base stands first (the brownish-red pieces) to support the lower layers when starting out, because once you add the tail, near the beginning, it does cause some flexing while the model is at rest. Key takeaways: take your time and don't be in a hurry. Have fun.

Great build!!
This was a great build! I have a lot of Lego sets under my built and love experimenting with off brands. Not 1 missing piece!! Fun build!! Easy if you have some experience but also a good starter.

Well worth the price for the build quality and time to put it together. A Navy vet must have.
My family are huge fans of Lego set, but didn't have anything like this submarine. I bought as a Christmas gift for my navy son. I read the reviews and still hesitant due to not being a Lego branded set and the price. Once we started putting it together, the quality of pieces, instructions and overall complexity was great. I've had great Lego sets and horrible sets. We built Mega blocks, no named blocks and now this. This is by far one of our favorites. The attention to detail made this feel like the price was worth it, and will be buying another one again when a high quality build is wanted.

This is a adult build.
This is a challenging build due to the tight fit of the blocks. No missing parts. Looks impressive when complete. I added lights which was easy to do. A good addition to my collection. I would recommend super glue for a lot of the build. Especially the first 2 layers and most components. They easily fall off when bumped. Especially the torpedo assembly. I read that from another review. And it paid off. Not for young builders.

Worst experience ever! Do not buy !
I so much wanted to love this submarine build but it is plagued with too many problems 1. The bricks did not all snap together successfully. 2. Bricks were missing from the instructions ( 5 to be exact) thank God I had a stock pile of bricks from the real brick maker. 3. The experience was so frustrating from the first page up to the last when I finally was putting the 2 side of the ship together to hold everything in place it all fell apart in my hand. After that happened I bagged the whole thing up walked outside and tossed it in the trash. What a waste of money . Do not buy unless you like to have high blood pressure.
