Grate Idea !
A brilliant piece of kit. I've played with it for hours, marvelling at all the different shapes that it produces in fruit and veg. I'd never seen half of them. It's introduced great fun into my kitchen. Salads a foot high, looking like a 60's haircut. Magic. The kids love it. They actually eat the different shapes without you having to plead with them for hours. But do heed the warning in the instructions. MIND YOUR FINGERS. Use the hat shaped bit with the prongs to hold the carrot, or whatever. It might look like you don't need it, but the ultra sharp blade doesn't take prisoners, and they're shutting down A&E departments everywhere.

Amazing!!!
I have tried dozens of slicer but this one is The Best. Very sharp and doesn’t stuck with the veggies. But you need to be careful otherwise you might have serious cut. I would recommend whenever using any kind of slicers don’t watch tv or give attention somewhere else.

Dangerous, Cheap, Badly Designed.
The phrase 'You get what you pay for' is never truer than with this Accident & Emergency waiting to happen tool.Firstly the whole thing does feel as cheap as it is. The plastic feels light and weak and the razor sharp blade really doesn't take very long to become dull and blunt. To stop you from cutting your hands to ribbons it comes with a plastic guide that looks a bit like an 'Iron Maiden' with plastic spikes that you use to skewer the vegetable you want to slice and works as a guard to stop your hand getting cut... Only it is poorly designed and doesn't work! Basically anything that is larger than a small onion won't fit in it without being cut up so if you wanted to use this to slice potatoes for dauphinoise for example it's no good as most potatoes will be too big. Also, even if you do find a vegetable the right size you'll find that you'll have a lot of waste due to the amount left in the guard afterwards.Where this really fails though and has already caused me a nasty gash in my hand are the interchangeable attachments. Basically they slot into the mandolin to give various effects such as slicing, shredding and grating. However, as others have mentioned, they simply don't fit securely and everytime you pass over one end will spring up. Think of a seesaw where if you stay in the middle you're fine but as soon as you move to one side it tips up.I used this about a dozen times and never felt safe doing so despite being very careful and am glad I've now binned it and replaced it with a much safer Mandoline

worth investing in a sturdier model unless it is for occasional use and/or cutting softer fruits and veggies
Reasonably happy with this item. I bought for slicing fruit and veg to be dehydrated and am finding it very difficult to clean with veg fibres stuck in small spaces beside the blade. The cutting plate has a tendancy to pop off if you are slicing harder vegetables like sweet potato, turnip and squash as you have to use a little more pressure. I used it a fairly regularly when I first got it and found the blade started to dull after a couple of months which means the guide thingy you hold the item with is now tearing up my fruit and veg. as I have to use more force to slice. If you are looking for a mandoline to slice or shred things like apple, cucumber, pre-cooked potato, etc. or don't expect to be using it often I'd definitely recommend this one as it is a great price and very easy to use - still a bit tricky to clean but that's a minor annoyance. If you will regularly cut harder vegetables or will use it a lot I'd say pay more and get one which is a bit sturdier.

Easy to use and makes chopping and slicing quick and easy, but the tool for holding the veggies doesn't always grip, and you are left with a huge chunk to either chop up or throw away. Overall brilliant for the price

Just what we were looking for
This one is perfect, a great replacement for our 15 year old one that cracked. This is great value for money but is also very easy to use. We did buy a more expensive make earlier in the year but we were disappointed and that has gone in the bin now.

mandolin
I was a little disappointed with the mandolin , it slices softer items such as cucumber , onions, red peppers very well but not so good with carrots (tomatoes although these are soft ) and potatoes , maybe I expected too much from it considering the low price ! its ok !

Good buy but be carefully when in use!
This product is excellent but my only advice to other buyers/ users is to please be careful because it is VERY sharp and I sliced the tip of my finger and didn't even know until I saw the blood!!
