Works For What I Wanted It For
I am a total newbie to stringed instruments. I am waiting for my first violin to be set up and then will pick it up, But I decided to get an inexpensive bow to learn the bow hold at least before my violin gets here. This bow works well for that. As for quality, it is an inexpensive bow. There were a few scraggly hairs I trimmed and the biggest thing to note is this Bow Stinks to high Heaven. I think it's something they treat the horse hair with. I'm chemically sensitive and there are cleaning products that I can't use as they will make me ill within a few minutes.. The smell of the bow at first made me nauseous. As it has aired out it's less noticeable but I hope it goes away soon. And I am happy to report that in working with the bow I am getting the bow hold learned and strengthening my fingers. Yay! I named the bow Limburger.

Good Price. So Far So Good!
David Bromberg once showed me a bow from the 18th century that costs $150,000. "Nice!" I told him, "But how am I gonna replace it if some drunk steps on it?" This one works much better for me. And I don't have to Mortgage my house.

Is it just my luck, or,...?
Wrote a previous review, but it hasn't been added yet, so I can't edit it. This second review will have to do.First bow arrived bent. Sighting down the bow (4/4) from the frog, the last 4-5 inches at the tip took a left turn that had the tip off center .75"-1". Returned for refund.Second bow arrived and it had the same problem....except worse. This second bow started being warped about one third of the distance from the frog...and this warp was combo, a slight warp to the right, then another left turn that put the tip at least 1" out. Both bows were examined loose and tightened, and no, I did not over-tighten the bow. Decades ago I played cello in school, so this ain't my first rodeo. There seems to be zero quality control and when a product is this defective and the listing says the product is "suitable for professional use", well, something somewhere is..........sub-optimal. Second return only allowed for refund, so I'm trying a 1/2 from another seller. Going for a smaller one because I will be using it on electric guitar a la Jimmy Page. Both seemed to be taking a heck of a lot of rosin, but that could just be my memory of how to do things.Best part of the product was the shipping. Rocket fast, but like others have said, it comes as a bow-in-a-box. No packing materiel, just a 6" x 6" x36" box with the bow loose inside.Give it a shot if you're feeling lucky, but even though I was willing to let the seller go for 3 strikes, the seller only allowed 2 strikes, so,,,,,they're out on 2 strikes. Not at all recommended.

Great bow for a great price.
I just purchased a new violin at really cheap price to play with. It came with a bow that was adequate for the instrument. I had experience with violins in my youth and included bow was weak and the hair wis not well placed. This bow made a real difference in the playability of the instrument. The hair was even and took quickly to rosin. The bow tension was very even and well balanced for playing. I recommend it for a good student level bow. I know of a bow that cost a concert violinist $1700. This isn't one of those, but I am not playing at Carnegie Hall either.
