we all love, small
forget any review that bases size on personal opinion, there a reason for the size chart,it gives a generalised idea of measurements,we all love, small, medium, large, charts,we go hey im a medium,in my case,i am 5'5 155 pounds,an athletic build, and a 17 neck, thats from working out,you might not think so by looking at me,so i know i take a medium,im also a 42 chest,so if i want room,i do large but we are all freeked by the dress shirt size charts, because most either dont know neck size,or arent sure,so we tend to shy away from buying that shirt, based on wearing a tie,or not,you always find neck size first, everything else either fits,or needs tailoring,im saying all this so you know this shirt for me i chose,16.5 neck,i wanted a more casual fit,i can use it with a tie,we can all go alittle smaller with neck size, never bigger thats just sloppy, and im a certain chest,a 33 waist etc,so based on this chart, its obvious i could get the sleeves tailored, but im wearing it under a suit or blazer, theres 2 buttons, that takes care of the arm issue,as for the fit,it fits my neck, its perfect for my chest, and the length its tucked in who cares?, go with this shirt,if after looking at the chart the neck size is available, and look at the other measurements,go for the 32-33 sleeve,or the shortest with the neck size, obviously unless you have unusually long arms for your body./ this shirt will fit anyone with a average, normal build exactly as the chart shows,id say it completly acurate, ive never had a dress shirt or blazer fit perfectly without tailoring,a jacket will need arms adjusted for me,im a 40-42s,so know your size, compare a shirt you have that you like, and fits well,i got a second in another color, because this shirt fit perfectly for my needs,as a dress shirt for suits, and a casual shirt, for blazers, and sportscoats,i can be more specific than that, its not thick, its nice material if you dont want to sweat, definatly not an oxford, and for those who dont know what that means,if you buy a suit,in lets say mens wearhouse, you will always be givin a choice of that cotton thick double material near the buttons, and full coller point shirt thats an oxford, only to be worn as a dress shirt, with suit, its never casual, way to fancy, these are perfect for day bussiness, into night casual,i wouldnt wear to a formal occasion, but a casual,or semiformal wedding definatly,as long as a tie is worn, and great for transition from work to night,to weekend, need i say more???

The pins
Despite my long arms and torso the fit was OK, I got the 16.5/36-37. I always use the tailor at my dry cleaner to add a button hole after the last and use the extra button sewn there. The slim fit fit when I was younger and slimmer but the regular is me now. The sateen material is not quite cotton not quite silk, and not bad it mostly breathes, I wear a T-shirt under it. They last a year or 2 depending on obvious factors such as frequency of use etc. So for the money the shirt is fine and an unusual size hard to find in stores can easily be ordered online, that's really great. But I want to kvetch about the pins, the damn pins that impregnate this shirts, most dress shirts, still to this day.Dangerous and hazardous and insidious pins have annoyed countless dress shirt wearers for decades since the first overseas sweatshop worker was engaged to insert those accursed pins, usually 8 in all, I've counted. In addition to the danger of a poking while trying to find them all, don't forget that dropping one on the floor creates the potential to for a serious pin in the foot or worse yet, depending on what you or your kids or your pets do on your floor or carpet. There may be strange economic reasons why this industry continues to use these sharp pins (perhaps the shirtmaker owns the pin factory and benefits thereby?) but no rational person could seriously advocate that the use of these pins outweigh both their potential harm and the easily available substitutes (like blunt plastic clips of some kind?!)STOP USING THE PINS!!

Geoffrey Beene Sateen Dress Shirt
I've been wearing these Geoffrey Beene silk shirts for over a year now, and have just started purchasing them through Amazon because of the substantial savings of online shopping vs buying outright at my local Macy's outlet. To anyone who hasn't tried one of these shirts on: you don't know what you're missing. These shirts wear well, are extremely breathable, and wash up like new. (hang and let air dry though for best results) They also are extremely resistant to wrinkling, which is nice if you throw it over the back of a chair and forget to hang it up properly. It's the kind of shirt that wears like it isn't there: It isn't awkward to move around in, and the fabric is light and soft. To anyone who wonders who to measure for one of these shirts, my advice would be to measure exactly. Some brands have some wiggle room in the measurements, these shirts do not. If you know that you have a 16.5" neck, buy the 16.5" necked shirt. What size you order is exactly the size you get... and these shirts don't shrink either, so don't account for shrinkage when you measure. A quality piece. As a side note: if you are a tall man with long arms, then you need to have at least one of these shirts in your collection. I have a 6'4" arm-span from wrist to wrist, measuring across the back with arms extended in either direction, and the 36-37" sleeved shirt is the only shirt that I own where I don't have to roll up the sleeves because the arms are too short.

Great shirts. Great material and hold shape and colour. Dry clean well and last a long time. Crisp look on cuffs and collar after many wears. Regular fit perfect for me at 190 lbs.
