Highly reliable with crisp video
Why did you pick this product vs others?:We love our Arlo products! I’ve been using the Arlo Pro 5S 2K security camera for about a month now, and I’m thoroughly impressed. The video quality is exceptionally clear, even in low light conditions thanks to the spotlight and color night vision features. The motion detection system is great and I love knowing when packages arrive along with its ability to distinguish between people. Additionally, The battery life exceeds my expectations, and the setup process was super easy. The camera’s sturdy construction and weatherproof design make it ideal for outdoor use. Having this camera monitor my driveway provides me with a sense of peace of mind. I wholeheartedly recommend the Arlo Pro 5S 2K security camera to anyone seeking a reliable and effective security solution.

Impressive video quality especially at night
This camera are awesome. The picture quality is super clear—really crisp 2K video, even at night. Motion detection is on point and recorded activities have really clear video compared to another cheaper system we had. Setup was so easy; it literally took a few minutes to scan the QR code on the camera and connect to the app.The app itself is straightforward and makes it simple to tweak settings or check the cameras whenever you want. I can check the event directly when my phone sends a notification in the drop down. The spotlight feature is a great touch for added security. If you’re looking for a solid, hassle-free home security setup, this is a great pick!

Does not function as advertised
After having this Arlo system (I actually have 5 battery powered cameras, a wired doorbell camera and a wired floodlight camera) for couple weeks now I am comfortable stating that I regret this purchase. I’ll just cover 2 of the complete deal killer issues here, but there are additional problems with the Arlo system.First, a couple of the cameras will not stay connected and will not reconnect. I have zero connection issues with other devices on my wifi network and my connection speed to the Internet tests at just under 1gb per second. My doorbell camera will just randomly be offline and not work as does the wired floodlight camera. At this point the floodlight camera will not reconnect. I spent 2 hours of my time going through all of Arlo’s troubleshooting instructions before calling their customer support, which is apparently all based in India. I then spent nearly an additional 2 hours on the phone with their support doing basically the same thing.With this camera, it is located outside at 14’ high over my garage doors, so it’s not exactly convenient to spend a good hour’s worth hanging at the top of a ladder in below freezing weather. Regardless, I followed their instructions for nearly 2 hours which included sending them several screenshots verifying what errors their app was showing. Now I’m waiting until some other support people up their chain of command can call me back. Clearly there is either a problem with this camera or their software; neither of which I can control. I feel that I have wasted far more of my time than I should because their product has failed. It’s bad enough that this product lasted less than 2 weeks but now I am forced to literally waste hours and hours of my time speaking with people in India. I am done with this camera/floodlight.Now the worst problem with the Arlo product. One of the selling points is that, with their paid subscription, their camera software can detect the difference between a person, a vehicle, an animal and a package. Sadly, this is not true. I’ve now wasted hours on the phone with their customer support in India trying to resolve this problem with zero success.When “arming” their camera security system at night (or any other time for that matter) I do not need to have alerts sent to me because a squirrel ambled by at 3am. I also have outdoor pets that will also walk past the cameras all throughout the night and those too cause the Arlo system to send me a false alert that I have someone walking around home. It didn’t take but a night or two before we had to disable the alarm system all night to stop the constant false alerts.In order to try and prevent these constant false alarms, customer support had me turn the sensitivity down so far that the cameras won’t detect a person walking up to my door. The lady in India seemed to think this was a good solution! Then the other “solution” was to stop the system from contacting me when an alert was triggered. Again, this too renders the system useless.The addition problem with the Arlo system is that all these false alarms really kills the battery life of the cameras. Their solution to this problem is for me to buy a $60 solar panel for each camera. This adds enough to the already higher priced cameras that they are not competitive with the pricing.By the time you take into consideration the hardware problems, the connectivity issues, the software problems and difficult to understand customer support based in India, these factors totally erase any potential attributes to buying this wireless security system. Because of these problems, along with other problems I don’t have time to type out here, I see no value in the Arlo system at this time. I wish Arlo functioned as advertised but, sadly, it does not and I certainly cannot recommend this product and their required service.

Great security camera
I’ve been using the Arlo Pro 5S 2K Spotlight Camera for a while now, and I’m really happy with the performance. The video quality is excellent, even at night thanks to the spotlight feature. Setup was simple, and the app makes it easy to monitor everything remotely.The battery life is solid, and it recharges fairly quickly. I love that it integrates with my smart home devices too. Motion detection is accurate and hasn’t given me any false alerts. Definitely worth the investment for peace of mind around the house!

Great camera, maybe.
This is one of those things you love and hate at the same time. I love wireless setup, it was the easy way for me to have security system with little effort on my part. I found these clip things that you can put into the side of your home or garage with no damage to building and will stay in place so makes it work so easy. Now, this is my second group of Arlo cameras and they mostly work. However this set I got the home hub so I could get away from paying a monthly fee to keep my videos so I can get them. Put the memory card in and after the year of almost free I wanted to stop paying. So, when I did that I learned that I would not be able to see the videos unless I opened each one, so this seems to kind of defeat the entire system for what I wanted to begin with. So, I signed up for another cloud year to see if I can work around that with success. So far I have not, so not sure what I will do when it comes again. I like having my own save method, as I don't what the in the cloud anyway. So, I love the cameras most of the time, but had to replace one, and then found out I could save it, so just hard to go through all the help things on their site to find the answers. So, I have to say they are pretty good cameras, but I just am not liking how it operates for me. Good things and mixed feelings things, but guess that is how a lot of things work, so just wanted to help explain the not so good with the good. Bob
