Beautiful and Addictive
“King of Sloth” completely stole my heart — I honestly didn’t want it to end! Ana Huang delivers another unforgettable story that is equal parts emotional, steamy, and deeply personal. Sloane and Xavier’s relationship felt so raw and real; their chemistry was absolutely magnetic from the very first page. I loved how Huang built their connection slowly, allowing their vulnerabilities and scars to surface in a way that made them even more relatable.Xavier is one of the dreamiest heroes I’ve ever read — protective, broody, and so deeply loyal once he lets you in. And Sloane? She’s strong, ambitious, and beautifully complex. Watching them both learn to trust, to heal, and to fight for each other made for such an emotional rollercoaster. The writing was beautiful and addictive, filled with all the tension, banter, and slow-burn moments I crave. It wasn’t just about romance either — there were powerful themes of self-worth, family expectations, and finding your own path. I laughed, I cried, and I fell completely in love.If you love swoony, emotional slow burns with strong characters and deep character growth, King of Sloth will absolutely wreck you (in the best way possible). It’s one of my favorite reads of the year, and I already can’t wait for a reread!Rating: 5/5 stars.Highly recommend to anyone who loves slow-burn romance with heart!

A New Favorite MMC!
WHEW I have some mixed emotions about this one, so let’s get into it😂This one started off really slowly, but once it picked up, I was hooked! When I got glimpses of the FMC, Sloane, in the first 3 books, she didn’t seem as uptight as she did in this book. But considering who her clients were, it made more sense here🥴I didn’t think it was possible for anyone to dethrone Dominic Davenport as my favorite MMC in this series but HERE WE ARE with Xavier Castillo!🫠 First of all, he was beyond hilarious and I found myself cackling quite a few times throughout this book😂 And secondly, yall know how much I LOVE a reformed playboy. Add in some secret pining and we have a masterpiece🙂↕️Well, almost. . .When I tell you I almost threw my kindle multiple times because of the FMC’s family, that is not an exaggeration🥲 Their behavior towards her and things that happened in the past was literally so disgusting and that’s all I’m gonna say cause I’m getting pissed off all over again😂🥴And while I’m not of fan of how certain situations occurred, mainly the MMC being very childish towards the end, I do think the ending was wrapped up nicely and it didn’t feel rushed so that made me happy. And of course I can’t leave without saying that the spice was SPICING🤭🥵 the first scene I feel like came out of nowhere so I was a little caught off guard, but it surprisingly worked? Question mark?😂Anywho😂🙃Overall I really enjoyed this book and because of what happened at the end, I can’t wait for the next one next month!

Not my favorite
This one was clearly not quite ready to come out of the oven - beyond the many formatting issues, there were some pretty big continuity errors. Our couple went without protection for every scene except the big, heartfelt one at the end, and there was zero explanation why they went backwards - pretty sure that was just an editing error. Beyond that, I think this could’ve been a much stronger book with a few tweaks here and there (and a shorter page count). I liked it to an extent, but the relationship was often overshadowed by the extreme amount of business talk and family drama. I wanted more swoony moments and scenes that softened the edges of these characters, because they just weren’t easy to relate to without that. Our heroine is known as an ice queen and the hero is known for being hedonistic and lazy, so they needed that swoon factor. I will say that I liked the hero a lot more than I expected to at the beginning; he truly was gone for his girl, and I loved that he didn’t want to change her. I saw a lot of potential in their opposites attract dynamic, so I’m left feeling disappointed by the end result. The story follows Sloane, a woman who runs a PR firm. She’s known for being cold and aloof, which is part of what makes her business so successful. There is one client who drives her a little crazy, and that’s party boy Xavier. He doesn’t seem to have any ambition in life other than having a good time, but the death of his father changes that. With some complicated stipulations in Xavier’s father’s will, it’s the push he needs to finally get moving. Seeing a different side of Xavier draws Sloane in closer, and it’s not long before the chemistry builds between them. But neither one has ever considered having a lasting love before, and they might just be out of their element.I’m what you’d call a casual Ana Huang reader - I like her writing, but I wait to see what the tropes are before deciding to dive in. In this case, I was very intrigued by the blurb, and had such a good feeling about the story. I did not realize that Xavier and Sloane had been working together for years, which was pretty disappointing, honestly. I did understand Huang’s explanation that they had the kind of attraction that was easy to put on the backburner, but that certainly didn’t help the swoon factor, lol. They were good for each other though, and I would’ve loved more of the story to focus on the two of them rather than all of the side characters and distractions. It’s the kind of story that was JUST good enough to hold my interest, and could’ve really won me over if something great happened. Unfortunately, that simply wasn’t the case, and I found myself bored enough to notice all of the editing flaws.Audio note: Zero complaints about the audiobook, I loved the duet narration. Gregory Salinas and Elena Wolfe are both newer-to-me narrators, and they gave great performances. The duet style made it feel more immersive too. The runtime (13 hours) reflects the long length of the book, and it took me a few days to get through. Once I lost interest in the story, I switched to the kindle edition to speed things up, and that’s where all of the weird editing issues became obvious (paragraphs running together, weird line breaks, no distinguishing marks between perspective shifts, etc). They’re much easier to ignore in the audio format, so that’s another plus for the audiobook. There’s a decent amount of spice, so not sure I’d recommend this as a workday listen, but it’s easygoing and light overall.

obsessed in every way
I adore Xavier and Sloane! When I saw how long this book was, I knew I was going to be in for a rollercoaster. But it never felt like it dragged on with filler details. From the very start, I knew Xavier was going to be full of trouble, and I was so right. What I didn’t expect was for Sloane to be so easy to love. Every glimpse from previous books made her seem so cold and standoffish, but seeing her true nature had me swooning for her too. I loved the fact that they were so opposite in every way, but they meshed together SO well. Another hit by such an amazing author, and the breadcrumbs that were left have me diving straight into King of Envy!

So cute!
I absolutely loved the use of rom com cliches! It made it so much more adorable of a story. And then there's the tension that eventually lead to the spice! 👩🏻🍳🤌🏻💋
