Based on Herm Sprenger being such a trusted brand I expected this to be a good product but it's not. It never stays at the desired length and loosens all the way out constantly. It didn't last long before both clips broke. If you are getting a backup strap you need something they works that you can depend on and Herm Sprenger really comes up short with this product.

I do feel like they’re kind of heavy and seem to pull the collar down on my dogs neck. But overall, serves the purpose & I’d rather it be sturdy & reliable in the case that I do need it.

I had a bit of a scare when I had my dog out on her prong collar and it came unclasped. Thankfully I was able to get a handle on her. I had a difficult time trying to find a safety strap of good quality, but Herm Sprenger is well known for their quality. At first, I was a little concerned with the size of the clips (I have a Belgian Malinois), but they seem pretty heavy duty given their size. Besides, the whole point is to keep the dog contained so it cannot get away. It’s pretty easy to use and the length is adjustable. Just be careful not to get it tangled up in the chain of the prong collar while walking.

I use this to ensure that in the event my dogs training collar releases (has safety release), my dog is still securely attached to the leash. So far, it works well! The added security gives me peace of mind when walking her in the city.
