Saves Work!
This thing works so well for at least 4 months that all I need to do to avoid clouds in the hot tub is add an ounce of chlorine powder Sundays and Wednesdays. I do check for other chemical issues every week, but what this product does is keep the water clear for my daily sessions in the tub by keeping chlorine at a healthy level. Daily use -- My mindfulness meditation moment :)

Just as good as name brand
I have been using the Sundance brand-named version since owning my tub, and I have always maintained excellent water quality (with other proper maintenance). This brand seems to keep up with my use, but for much less. 5 stars for that alone!

Not a big change in water chemistry
I test my water every few days for alkaline, PH, metals, acid, chorine, lead, and other chemicals, and I tested it before dropping this in, and a week after, and there's little to no change in my readings using these. I was hoping that it would help reduce the need (or amount) for my PH and chlorine additives, but it's done little to affect it. These claim they can go with just about any spa, and the only location I could place this, is in the skim basket. I'll give this more time, and if there is a significant change, I'll update this review.

These cartridges do work well
This cartridge is easy to use and effective. you likely will not notice an immediate difference in your spa water quality but next time you change or clean your filter take a close look at the cartridge and you will see the minerals sticking to the cartridge media. I use my spa daily and the public water supply that I use to fill the spa has a lot of minerals, so this little filter is great.

Easy to Use. Have to Take the Manufacturer's Word that Mineral Sanitizers Do Anything.
I have no idea whether mineral sanitizers keep spa water clean with half the chlorine (which you still need) or whether this is just more stuff for hot tub owners to spend their money on.Since spa manufacturers recommend mineral sanitizers even if you buy them from someone else, then maybe there's something to them. What I do know is the spa makers and independent providers of spa maintenance info say that mineral sanitizers use silver or copper to achieve their water-cleaning results. Some sanitizers use zinc, but I can't find much info on whether zinc is an effective sanitizer.A lot of the mineral cartridges or packs you can buy here don't list their active minerals and speficially don't claim to contain silver or copper. Some mineral-based devices don't even have the word "sanitizer" in their product name or description. I posted a question to one maker/seller to ask about their product's sanitizing content, and they answered it's a stick, not a sanitizer! There you have it.This is all a long way of saying that if you want to use a mineral sanitizer in your spa, then read the product listing to be sure the seller even calls it a sanitizer and do your best to determine whether it contains silver or copper -- as this Bilinavy mineral pack does.If the seller won't call the product a sanitizer, then why would you expect it to sanitize your spa?- - - - - - - - -With all that out of the way, what I like best about this product is that it's a pack I can simply throw into the skimmer above the filter and not a stick that goes inside the filter with a leg that goes down into the piping. A stick I was using clogged up the works and left my spa system making a terrible noise. It may have contributed to development of an air lock. The Bilinavy pack doesn't block water flow at all. It just sits in the skimmer and does its job.Whether it actually reduces chlorine requirement, I'll know later.

Fits the filter basket in my Keys Backyard Spa
It's been known for centuries that silver compounds can kill bacteria, even in tiny amounts. Actually, in large enough amounts it would be toxic to humans as well, and the active ingredient in this Bilinavy Hot Tub Mineral Sanitizer Cartridge says it contains silver nitrate. Clearly, sanitizing a hot tub/spa involves making the water toxic to tiny organisms, and all the things people add to their spa water to keep it clear are toxic, We just don't add enough for it to be toxic to people. I actually can't prove that my spa water is any cleaner or clearer than it was before, since it was already clear. I have a salt-water system that converts the salt in the water to chlorine, and I add a small amount of shock regularly, so my spa water was already quite clear, but adding the Bilinavy Hot Tub Mineral Sanitizer Cartridge seemed to be a reasonable idea to insure trouble-free spa maintenance, since it requires nothing other than replacing it every 4 months, and at about $6.00 a month it's cheap insurance at that.

Works for My Sundance Spa
Our originally Sundance spa manufacture filter was in need of replacement. This one works just as well. No complaints at a great price!

Very similar to Sun Purity
I use Sun Purity brand mineral blocks in my Sundance hot tub and thought I'd give this a try because of the price. The Sun Purity brand has come down in price recently and this is not a whole lot cheaper, but still saves a little. I was surprised how this came - the mineral block in a thin cardboard box - and that's it. No documentation, no instructions, no contact information for the seller. You have to read the Amazon listing to even know it lasts 4 months. My current mineral block doesn't expire until March 1, so I haven't actually used this yet, but it looks just like the Sun Purity brand.
