It is a very bright light. If you set the bulb tint to white and maximum brightness, it can light up an entire room when you face it toward the ceiling.

Can the light be mounted on a tabletop less than 2 inches？

Yes it can, my desk is 0.5" and the instructions say it fits perfectly on desktops smaller than 2.95".
