Pleased
I ordered this grater through The First Ingredient, and the grater is exactly what is represented in the image. It's sturdy, doesn't flex much, the blades are nice and sharp, it sits flat on a plate or cooking sheet, and it is true restaurant quality. I am tickled to finally have one of my own. (I have used five others of the same design over the years, and they aren't easy to find locally, so I'm tickled to finally have one to call my own.) It shreds cheese from mozzarella (soft) to parmesan (hard) with ease on both surfaces (coarse and fine), handles all the vegetables that I shred and slice, and rasps everything I've tried better than the other two rasps that I have in the kitchen. It even shreds Ghirardelli hard candy-making chocolate bars to make sprinkle topping in very short order. This grater will effectively retire six other items in my kitchen. For under $8 with free shipping, it's a true bargain.

Great product for the price
My sister has had a "square" cheese grater for years, and I have been searching everywhere for one! I was so pleased when I found one on Amazon, I ordered them for myself, my mother and my other sister. If you love cheese the way my family loves cheese, you'll love this item! It's very sharp and works quickly. The shape and size allows a larger volume of cheese to be grated before having to empty it. The ONLY reason I did not give this item five stars is because it is not as sturdy as I had hoped for (the metal is a little thin). However, I have had no issues with denting, collapsing or bending! And for the price, it cannot be beat! If you purchase this item, I recommend you pick up a couple - because your sister might steal it!

As described, but make sure you know what you need...
This item is as described, came in super fast and does what it should... only problem is if you don't need a large grater, you may be underwhelmed. Little hard to handle for average to small tasks (like an 8oz stick of cheddar). Cutting surface for each side is a little dull, so harder to get through things, but not too hard.It is not bad at all, just not what I had in mind.VERY easy to clean however, due to the size and being able to get your hand inside to wash each side. Would be better suited to those looking to tackle larger jobs. Works great on a whole head of lettuce, and makes short work of a potato for hash browns and what not... stuff like that.I actually got not so bad results using the micro-plane surface for some lemon zest. Not perfect, and bit bulky/awkward for the small things, but doable .Just know what you need... looking to shred some cheese for an English muffin pizza? then stick with the smaller size. Looking to make coleslaw and hash browns constantly, then get it!

Form Vs. Function
It's definitely a different look from the usual triangular/pyramidal (is that even a word?)/sloping shapes you see in most graters. Without the supporting handle over the top like other ones have, this grater has a slight tendency to bend and twist a little while you're handling or using it. Or maybe I'm just manhandling it, man that I am - after all, I do grate cheese with some furor. However, by now I have no problems or hesitations using it, it works very well, and I think it looks nice enough to leave it sit out on the countertop where people can admire (or at least not look at with raised eyebrows) its shape and mirror finish. :-)

This photo is of a high end Traex sg-200 grater - you'll be sent a flimsy knockoff
The photo is of a Traex SG-200 Grater. The Traex is a very high quality grater. I have owned one of the Traex graters for about 15 years and used it hundreds of times. It is a wonderful heavy duty grater.I wanted to give a Traex grater to each of my daughters and in December 2012 ordered this item based on the photo. What I received is not what is pictured. The grips on the ones I was sent were square not ovoid. The grater is not stamped with a brand name. The build quality of what I was sent is very flimsy and the graters were bent out of shape went I received them. My 15 year old Traex is as square as the day I bought it.The Traex brand will be stamped with the word Traex or Dripcut or Volrath. (Mine is stamped Dripcut, although the "t" in the stamp is very faint.) Amazon does sell the genuine Traex grater. It costs more but I believe it will last a lifetime and it is a pleasure to use. If you want to see the Traex, search Amazon for Traex grater. It sells for about $17 on Amazon. It is also listed under Vollrath, but at a much higher price. This one might be tolerable for the price but you won't get the high quality grater shown in the photo.

No Handle to Break
The last two graters I've had were perfectly good with the exception that the handles broke off, which made the graters useless. I always put the grater in the dishwasher so that it gets really clean. I suppose the ones with the handles just do not handle the dishwasher very well. This grater has no handles, so there is no more possibility of the handles coming off. I also like the size because I can grate a lot of cheese before having to "unload" the grater. I would highly recommend this grater. One thing, though--it's a little larger than the graters I've had before. If space is an issue, this might not be the one for you.

Useful Grater
For large grating jobs, I always use my food processor, but for small amounts, this is a nice grater for the money. It's stable and provides adequate finger openings, but the "rolled" edges could be a little more substantial. I have even used it for nutmeg, saving me a separate grater for a spice that I don't usually buy fresh. A good value.

Large
I like the design because it's easy to clean, being able to fit my hand inside with sponge is convenient, but when it comes to grating it's actually very awkward because it's so big, I can't get a good grip on it. It's sturdy enough, not flimsy, but it's hard to hold onto. If you have very small hands I would recommend a different product.
