Disappointed on many levels. Would not recommend: not worth the exorbitant price
First of all, the sewing cabinet I ordered was supposed to be delivered on August 2, 2024. It was not. It took a few emails and a phone call to have it delivered on August 12. It may not necessarily be a problem for many people. In my case, it ruined many of my plans. The cabinet arrived on a pallet in a few battered boxes. By the look of that pile, I thought I was getting cracked and splintered furniture. Surprisingly, only one panel corner was squashed, and, thankfully, is not visible after assembly. Speaking of assembly, it took a better part of the weekend. The instructions were clear, no problems there. The hardware was not the best (and it’s a generous assessment). There were quite a few faulty cam bolts: some snapped, some would not go in, it turned out they were not properly threaded. The magnets had a very flimsy plastic casing. I’m pretty sure the hinges that were supplied are the cheapest possible in the world. Now, the biggest disappointment was in the quality of the cabinet itself. In the description of this item it states “frame material – wood, top material type – wood, back material type – laminate or wood.” Guess what, it is a NO, NO, and NO! All the panels consist of particle board (basically, compressed wood dust) covered with a thin laminate! Honestly, I’ve had a few pieces of IKEA furniture that were much higher quality! The “soft closing drawers” are not so soft closing. Adhesive foam sheet is missing altogether. The thread spool holder is absolutely useless: the pins are too thick for smaller spools and the spacing between those pins is too small for larger spools. I guess they have different spool sizes in Australia. Overall, I got much lower than IKEA quality cabinet for the price of good Amish craftsmanship furniture. It is yet to be seen how well it will serve and how long it will last. I would not recommend this cabinet. Not at the price they want for it anyway.
