Inexpensive as compared to others very similar
First thing first, I received this manual transfer switch yesterday and just finished installing it, so I don't know how long it'll last. However, I can tell you by looking at it that it appears to be well made. Also, there are variants of these transfer switch here at Amazon, ranging from about $40.00 up to about $80.00. Most appear to be physically identical, but I don't know if they are the same but with different brand names, or just different parts. I opted to purchase this one which was in the lower price range, or $39.99 to be exact…as of this review.Basically, it works. I have a freezer in the back room of the house, and after I hooked up the transfer switch, which sits in the garage, I was able to run the freezer using a battery bank connected to an inverter. That’s the main reason I purchased this, to run the freezer from solar power when the grid is down. I’m sure it’ll work through a portable generator as well.Installation is straight forward, and the included instructions are sufficient for most DIY person. You basically hook up the green ground wire to the electrical panel’s ground terminals (in my case, the ground green wire was too short, so I replaced it with a regular ground wire, instead of splicing another piece of wire). The red wire (hot) is for grid power and hooks up the breaker and the white wire (neutral), which is parallel to the red wire at the transfer switch, goes to the neutral terminal at the electrical panel. The black wire connects to the circuit wire and the white wire connects to the circuit neutral wire. Do note that the transfer switch has two white (neutral) wires, one hook up to the grid and the other to the circuit you are trying to power with the switch. Each white wire sits parallel to its corresponding red and black wires. To prevent confusion, you can use a piece of tape and a marker to identify them before proceeding to the installation. There are no mounting screws, so you must supply your own (three each). The cut outs for the wires are 3\4”, so if you’re using a conduit for the wires, it’ll need to be 3\4” size. The included wire connectors work, although I opted to use my own because of better quality and easier to twist around the wires. In conclusion, I don’t think you’ll go wrong by purchasing this transfer switch and I recommend it.7/30/2023: If you have a shared circuit that meets all electrical codes, this transfer switch will work just fine. However, since when selecting ‘GENERATOR’ power switches the neutral, just the circuit that’s being connected to the transfer switch will work. The other shared circuit will lose power until the transfer switch is switched back to ‘NORMAL’.

Simple survival circuit transfer switch to connect to a battery unit. Ideal for my apartment.
This transfer switch allows me to connect my master bedroom and family room receptacles and prevent the hassle of connecting and living with 4 extensions I used before. Perfect. Nice built device with safety overload, light, transfer switch with long cables to connect to one circuit in my panel. Works great. Size is slightly bigger than a 2” by 4” switch box. Just what I needed at a very good price.

Very well manufactured
Installed to switch my boiler to emergency power when necessary. This unit is very well built with quality components. Being a retired master electrician with over 50 years experience, I know what’s what in this area. It doesn’t have a UL listing but it’s installed inside and will never see weather. I would be disinclined to install it outdoors however. This unit is robust. One earlier review claimed it had aluminum wires; not so. They’re tinned copper which is even better than bare copper. So rest easy in that regard. I’m very satisfied with this switch. If you’re looking for a simple transfer switch, have no qualms about buying this one.

Small and works great in a power outage.
The unit works well. I had just installed it, and the power went out for hours. Plugged my generator in and it worked perfect. The wiring instructions may be hard to understand if you don't have a basic understanding of electricity. Go online for help.

Working great on my furnace, had to use it a week after installing.
I've seen the videos where furnace power was swapped to a pigtail so it could be plugged directly into a generator. My furnace needs an additional water pump for the drain so I figured this would be easier. I installed it a couple of weeks ago so that it switches power to the furnace and drain pump at the same time. I didn't see it in the documentation, but it does appear that it also switches the neutral. I have a solar generator and my truck has an onboard inverter so the switched neutral works well.I ran the furnace for 2 days off the solar generator after installing it just to test things out, then we lost power a week later so got to use it for real. Thankfully that was only for a little over an hour but it was still nice to have.
