But in subtle way, through flashback chapters, we see the budding relationship between Kade and Stacey and how they were mad about each other and equally obsessed. It begs the question as to the Kade and Stacey of today are so bitter and hate each other, so what would have happened to make them so? Kade is such a complicated character and also what he does which is a secret from everyone including his own family makes him all the more dangerous and deadly. Especially being Tobias Mitchell's son, the psychopath himself who is infamous for his love story and how dangerous he is, Kade still has shades that seriously make you question as to what to feel about him. He was way hot one moment and way cold one moment. But there's a huge misunderstanding and it's something that Stacey has never told anyone but that has led to the destruction of something that could have been sweet between them. I absolutely loved their maddening wild chemistry. How Kade and Stacey would throw verbal barbs at each other and are arguing any moment they are together. Yet at the same time you can feel this simmering of heat and desire between them and emotions so strong, both are strongly denying it like their life depends on it. I'm really looking forward to the next one for sure. Especially I'll be reading Tobias' book because that man has freaking intrigued me oh so much.

Kade Mitchell - the new anti-hero
If you haven't started the series, you are missing out. Stop reading reviews and just start in this action packed journey. But To ease your minds- this is m/f, although mention of s*x with other partners (required for plot), read the triggers- it's heavy on that front, Mafia-esq setting, action, sexual tension and throw in some sweet banters.

Love, Lust, and a Whole Lot of Darkness
Insatiable starts off feeling surprisingly light—almost easy and breezy—lulling you into the idea that this might be another quick dark-romance read. But very gradually, the atmosphere thickens, the tone shifts, and the book plunges into a much darker space than expected. One of the most disturbing scenes is the intimate moment between Kade and Stacey near a corpse. It’s horrifying, unsettling, and honestly hard to digest. That was the turning point where the story took a full dive into psychological darkness. Stacey’s character is layered but frustrating. She’s undeniably drawn to Kade—call it love, call it lust, call it trauma bonding—but the intensity feels confusing rather than compelling. She’s deeply affected by what Chris did to her, yet she hides it from Kade completely. Despite having a whole circle of friends, she can’t open up to anyone, making it seem like she’s living a double life—present physically but emotionally absent. It’s strange to watch her hanging out with people she doesn’t trust or feel safe enough to confide in. Overall, Insatiable is unsettling, intense, and deeply twisted—but also inconsistent. It starts smooth, gets shockingly dark, and leaves you wondering whether the chaos was intentional or simply overwritten.

Meh
It looked promising in the beginning but it got pretty boring. The plot wasn't making sense. What do you mean that you hate your ex but still sleep with them? Did not finish. Tons of smut but boring. Did not finish.

emotionally wrecked
I started reading this book because of Tobias Mitchell's book hype. And oh my god !! This book emotionally wrecked me. It's so traumatizing to read what happened to Kade and Stacey. Both of them enduring such unimaginable pain and suffering with no one to rely on not even each other. Their suffering is almost unbearable to read at times. The she-devil makes me sick. I want to strangle her so badly. I love miscommunication trope. It serves the best kind of yearning. All the unsaid words, and lingering tension make the slow burn so much more rewarding at the end. KadeStacey's teenage chapters were pure magic to read. They had me blushing and smiling like crazy. The nervous and intimately shy kid who fancied his sister’s best friend, slowly understanding these new emotions was so endearing to read. His fear of messing things up and ruining what they had made every tender and slow moment even more special. I kind of debated about giving it 3.75 or 4 stars because even after everything, something felt missing. The smut scenes were undeniably hot and steamy but they seemed to take away the intensity of the yearning and longing. The slow burn and emotional tension could have reached a whole new level, making the longing unforgettable but it slightly overshadowed the emotional yearning for me. I get the hype around Tobias Mitchell now. I absolutely fell for the very infamous psychopath. I adore his and Stacey's bond. And love how fiercely he loves his son. Can't wait for his book. As emotionally frustrating as it is, it has some really beautiful moments. I loved it.

Wattpad stalker - ARC Read: ( i don’t think i’ve added spoilers but read with caution please ) Ahhhh still so happy for this book and the opportunity to read it - read it in under 24 hours lol. KADE MITCHELL has the biggest place in my heart, this book is amazing and i’m dying for the next installment. Stacey and Kades story is heartbreaking and you cannot help but get so immersed into their world. My heart hurts for how much both characters go through while still silently loving each other during it all even if the love is toxic to the T … Both characters are immature in their way of thinking, struggle to communicate anything for fear of so many things and taking into account the huge events both are going through. For Stacey her home life is hell, she doesn’t want to drag anyone into it for fear of risk to them. While she did speak up once and wasn’t believed that does damage to a person in its self and ability to speak up. She tries her best to navigate the love she has for Kade while keeping him and everyone she loves oblivious to the dangers she encounters- seriously I never NEVER hated a character as much as her step brother …. Kade only wants to protect the ones he loves by keeping them out of the manipulated spiders web he is intwined in with Bernadette going through things no teen should ever experiance. Kade already behind in a lot of ways due to his inability to process emotions gets set back even further from his life he should be in, while navigating a situation he cannot exscapse obsessing over his ex who broke his heart. Watching their stories unfold both together and seperated and seeing the situations they come into gives you a different look. The ending had me on the edge of my seat dying waiting for the next installment. Please check trigger warnings before reading this, it is a dark romance and has triggering content in it so careful reading.

To say that I’m obsessed with Leigh and her writing style is the understatement of the century. After reading The Web of Silence duet and falling head over heels for Malachi and Olivia’s story, I knew I had to read more of this universe. Not only was I immediately sucked into a gripping and intense story but I knew that The Edge of Darkness trilogy was going to take over my top spot for dark romance series. The story Stacey Rhodes and Kade Mitchell are forced back into proximity with each other, two years after the brutal events that break them up. Kade is determined to continue hating Stacey for what she did, and Stacey is driven to move on from the past. The two are drawn together with sizzling chemistry and must navigate the depths of the underworld, abusive relationships, and the small moments of freedom that they are granted with each other. The characters I want to start with Stacey because I was so drawn into her story. I felt so pulled into her experiences. From our first interaction with Stacey, I found myself interested in her unique perspective. She met a boy at 15 and fell deeply with him. They learned the ins and outs of love together. It was an adorable story filled with love and happiness and now as we see her grown into age 21 and dealing with the extremities of her home life plus the repercussions of her relationship with Kade, we can truly see the stark difference of her childhood years to her adult years. As someone who’s currently 21 and is finding bits of myself within these characters, I couldn’t help but mourn childhood Stacey with hope and innocence. She was dealing with everything even back then but the softness of her has disappeared as she’s grown up into this strong and beautiful woman. I found myself loving Stacey as a main character and every inch of her was something that I felt I related to. I loved reading her perspective and really feeling the femininity and adulthood seeping into her words. I honestly don’t know where to begin with Kade because I’ve never fallen so quickly for a character before. Undeniably misunderstood, Kade Mitchell is the softest man I’ve met in my career as a reader. Watching him grow up from age 15-18 and seeing his innocence and softness when it came to Stacey had me in tears. He’s probably one of the best male characters I’ve ever had the chance of reading. Not only that but seeing the progression of his feelings into his adulthood years we can see how he’s been handling the difficulties he’s had to face, including the loss of Stacey, the person he trusted more than anybody. This twisted version of his reality is definitely something that I wish he didn’t have to deal with but we can see that he still holds strong to his morals and the fact that he may be becoming similar to his dad but doesn’t want to lose himself into those urges. I found myself proud of him and my heart swelled with every page that Kade was in. I love that he’s still human beneath all of the inhuman acts that he’s had to face and despite it all, Stacey is still his rock. The writing Leigh Rivers has a talent for sucking you into a story and never letting you go. I started this book fairly early on in the day and ended up reading into the late hours of the night just obsessing over Kade and Stacey’s chemistry. I love how gripping the story is and how easy it is to understand. From page one you’re pulled into a world of twisted darkness and beautiful wording full of love stories that make you want to scream from their intensity. Final thoughts At this point there is no contest. Leigh River’s has beat every single dark romance from the top spot on my list and Insatiable has taken over. Kade Mitchell and Stacey Rhodes may be the best and most beautiful couple I’ve ever read about and I can’t wait to dive into book two even though I know Leigh is about to put me through the ringer. Rating: 5/5⭐️
