Reliable Budget Field Monitor That Still Performs Well
I purchased the Neewer F100 7-inch field monitor in 2020 and it’s still working well today. It fits nicely on my camera rig and is very easy to use. The 1280x800 IPS screen is bright enough for most indoor and shaded outdoor shoots, and the matte finish helps reduce glare. Colors look decent and the viewing angles are good, which makes it useful for framing and checking focus while filming. The focus peaking and check field features are very helpful for video work, especially when pulling focus manually. It’s not a true 4K display, but for monitoring purposes the image is sharp and accurate enough. The monitor is not touch screen, but it’s very lightweight and the shoe mount works perfectly. It’s also very compatible with different camera setups. Pros: • Still working well after years of use • Very lightweight and easy to mount • IPS screen with good viewing angles • Focus peaking and field check are very useful • Good image quality for monitoring Cons: • Not bright enough for direct sunlight • Battery not included • Resolution is fine for monitoring, not for critical color grading • Not a touchscreen Conclusion: The Neewer F100 is a solid budget field monitor for video work. It’s reliable, lightweight, and offers useful tools like focus peaking at a great price. If you need a dependable on-camera monitor and don’t expect ultra-bright outdoor performance, this is a great value.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW!
This display is just what I needed for my sony a6000. However, here's a few things to bear in mind before you buy it. - First, this is a really great display for the price. Its easy to use, bright, and shows a very clear picture. - It comes with several cables, but if you are a sony shooter, you will need an HDMI to Mini HDMI. In the description, it says that it does not come with this cable - but it DOES! - It does NOT come with batteries. I purchased the Artman NP-550 2 pack on amazon for $19.99 and they work great. - Take the batteries out when you are done with the display. For some reason, it doesn't seem like the display actually turns "off". I've pushed the power button and held it but there is a red light that stays on. Then, when I go to use it with my camera, the battery is dead. So I recommend pulling the battery off the back. There is a button you push to release the battery. - *****THIS IS IMPORTANT*****. When I first plugged in the display, there was this horrific, ear piercing feedback that started blasting. I thought it was broken. However, there is volume on the display, and on your camera. You MUST TURN BOTH OF THESE DOWN in order to not hear this feedback. So make sure your camera volume and the display volume are down so you don't seriously damage your ear drums. And that's it. Great display for a great price. I have used it for about two weeks now and no complaints, but I will update if something happens later on. hope this helps the next buyer!

Decent monitor with minor flaws
This thing works great out of the box, and I recommend a charger/battery pack from Amazon (not Sony brand, because $$$). Picture quality is really good for such a small form factor, but the features such as "focus assist" or whatever it is called seems pointless. I'd rather be able to see a clear image on this monitor that shows me an unfocused shot, rather than mess with fancy red fuzz around edges. Other features seem unnecessary to me, but perhaps to a professional videographer they would be important. I *think* the buttons on front are assignable, but their menu is clunky to navigate and it wasn't really worth spending time on. At first use I thought there was an apparent inability to disable sound on the F100's onboard speaker. This speaker caused tremendous audio feedback loops with a Rode mic setup, and was really frustrating. I finally located the volume control, which is the left/right arrow buttons. Documentation with this product is really terrible. Overall, a good purchase.

Using it in the field
I've been using this for over a year now and am very happy with it. I mount it to the top of my DSLR via the hotshoe and use that setup on a tripod for video, very stable and using HDMI connection. The sun shade is a very USEFUL addition that other units don't have. Mostly I use the 7" monitor via the AV 'in' port for my 2 'snake' cameras that have built-in small screens (2.4, 3.5"). I'm filming tiny soil critters and crawling around on the ground and for that purpose this monitor works great - nicer than the little screens and can be positioned where I need it away from the devices, although the battery is heavy and throws off the center of gravity when using a short small tripod. After a lot of trial and error I ended up getting a Zeadio video 'stabilizing' handle and an 11" Neewer dual flash bar, mounting the monitor on one end of the bar and my devices on the other. Very easy to move from place to place as a single unit. (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LKK99QA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). The only problem I've had was that one of the batteries I got with the recommended 2-battery charger punked out after ~14 months. Those are not cheap.

It is well built. Display is amazing. Ofcourse there lot of chance to improove it but at this price range. It is the best. Its 7inch extra screen to view your shots. But not just that it has lots of other features like SAFE MARGINE :-which my canon 1500d doesnt have. FOCUS ASSIST FAKE COLOURS CENTER MARKER ETC IMPORTANT NOTE:- make sure you buy batteries n charger for this. You have to buy it seperately as they do not provide it.

It's extremely disappointing to know when you buy a product and part of it is of repulsive quality. The cold shoe mount gets loose moments after you just slighly move or adjust the monitor. And this process repeats itself. And the level of wobbliness in this mount has made me go spend more money on a better mount. Did not expect this from Neewer.

F100 Review - Great screen. Lightweight but built quality is excellent. Came with a bunch of cables etc. The mini HDMI to HDMI enabled me to test straight away on my NIkon D7100 HDMI out.. No issues as I TURNED DOWN the volume on the screen before I started up my D7100 in video mode (would have been feedback issues). The screen is very bright and can be used outsie on sunny days with no issue if you use the screen shade (included). Hotshoe mount is strong and tightens fine. Few pointers, there is no HDMI thru/output so you'll need to split the video feed if you want to use this screen with say a caputre card etc. (unless of course the capture card has a HDMI thru/output which you could route into this screen post capture. Well done Neewer I Would buy again.. highly recommended.
