The Ultimate Guide to the Daniel Fast: Feed Your Soul, Strengthen Your Spirit, and Renew Your Body Review: Everything I needed for my first Daniel Fast - I was seeking a guide for my January Daniel Fast. I got the book in December and read through the early chapters right away. I like this book because she has lots of information, devotionals, suggested menu plans, and recipes. Everything I needed to have a peaceful fast. Her words are thoughtful, encouraging, and positive. I focus more on what I can have instead of giving the enemy fuel to focus on what I cannot have. I didn't want to focus on food, but as I am not a good cook, I knew I would need simple, delicious foods. This book made that happen. I am actually spending less time each week planning meals and a shopping list. We have tried several recipes and all have been great. Even when I thought we did something wrong with the Baked Oatmeal it came out great. I messaged the author on Facebook and she kindly answered my question and reassured me that we had done right. Her suggestions are great for modifying some favorites (ie Oatmeal with unsweetened apple juice and raisins - yummy). Favorites recipes so far: Baked Chips Baked Apples Baked Oatmeal Roasted Chickpeas Classic Tomato Sauce Butternut Squash and Sweet Potato Soup - my lunch today :-) Strawberry Banana Tofu Smoothie - froze half and it made a nice "ice cream" another day Sweet Spinach Smoothie and more New ones trying this week: Lentil Spinach Meatballs Apricot Nut Breakfast bar and more The devotions are right on too. They are simple and quick. I am doing more to connect with the Lord as that is my focus this fast, but she helps me connect the immediate events of my life to God. This is definitely my go to book and I have recommended it to many people offline. God has blessed all of the readers through Kristen as they approach the throne of God with humility. This book doesn't replace my Bible, prayer time, or focus on God during the fast, but it has been a tool to help me get there without stumbling. She prepares you for the fast with diligence and care then walks you through like a good friend. Review: Run buy - I love this book. Great recipes. I noticed the difference in my body within days of eatting clean. And great for fasting. I have recommended the book and gifted it. It has been loved every time and she has a website

A wonderful tool in our spiritual belt!
My husband is a pastor of a Baptist church and he and I along with some of the members of our congregation recently started the 21 day fast leading up to Easter. A couple of weeks ago we hosted a Daniel Fast Luncheon at our church and we ate Daniel Fast foods, one of the items we made was Kirsten's Ozark Fruit Salad w/ Apple Cinnamon dressing and people really enjoyed it! After we ate I gave a short presentation on the fast and then we called the people to fast with us. We were so excited to see how well received it was and how willing people were to the discipline of fasting. During the presentation I used insights from Kristen's book, The Ultimate Guide to the Daniel Fast, and encouraged others to purchase the book as I found it to be so helpful. I personally benefited from reading the book finding it beneficial, not only, for its biblical implications, but it's spiritual and practical implications. It was laced with biblical insights and examples of fasting, which helped deepen my understanding of this ever important spiritual discipline. I especially enjoyed the insights from Is. 58. It was also helpful on a spiritual level, with the insights shared and the 21 day devotional that I am now using each morning. It was also very practical with its numerous recipes of which my husband and I have begun to try! Her online devotional has also been a blessing! In fasting we need focus and Kristen's book is very helpful in directing us towards a focus because of how practical and easy to follow it is. Fasting can be a scary thing because it is such an unknown. Kristen's book helps alleviate some of those fears. Fasting is such a powerful tool in our arsenal against the Enemy and foes. We are excited for the things God will do through this 21 day fast as we walk more intimately through this very needed, yet, neglected discipline.

Meaningful Encouragement
The Ultimate Guide to the Daniel Fast by Kristen Feola can be a starting point for a new diet lifestyle change. There is a beginning section about the fast and other biblical fasts that is very helpful. The book reminds you that the real reason and the only reason for the fast itself, with its disciplines, should be spiritual--seeking the LORD with expectation. The 21 daily devotional readings from the author were light; they remind you of the fast day number, yes, but to go deeper, it is important to set-up additional reading, devotions and prayer time. Feola also encourages journaling your experiences and and answers to prayer. I did a two week pre-fast to prepare my body. By cutting down the items that were not going to be allowed on the fast like mocha coffee, sugars, beer and wine, dairy products, flesh meats, I was ready to begin and felt I could have success. Discomforts and Cravings? I had a couple of bad days, but I stayed with it and the discomforts diminished and the good health benefits began. The food photos in the book looked appetizing :~) but didn't use any of the recipes since I had other vegan cookbooks that I was beginning to be familiar with. I had a Daniel's Fast partner. This was important for support and prayer needs. We each had a copy of the book. Both of us had a couple of major issues and prayer requests that God answered--for me on day 20! I recommend the book--it's nicely laid out. Follow the directives. Journal. Do a pre-fast. Seek the LORD. He will answer. And try the recipes. Let everyone know if they're as delicious as the photos suggest. 4 stars? I liked the book a lot, but I really expected more in the daily devotion section, it was still meaningful encouragement. I have continued many of the disciplines as a lifestyle/diet change for 2013. CJH

This Book is a Winner!
This book was absolute an absolute blessing in my life! I did this fast when my 60 year-old mother became ill with a malignant, brain tumor and I really need to draw as close as I possibly could to my Savior in order to be a strong support system for my mother. This fast touched my life in a way that I had not experienced before. This book was a great tool that helped guide me with through the fast which completely transformed my life. I can't even begin to explain it. I felt a connection with Christ that I had never experienced before while going through the fast. This book is devotional, cookbook and guide book all in one! The recipes are delicious! I read another review that stated the recipes were difficult, but I beg to differ. In my experience it was the contrary! But just like anything, anything worthwhile is going to take some work, time and planning and this book shows you how to plan that, even before getting started. I found it fun. Learning new, delicious and nutritious recipes was exciting! I could not get enough of the Pineapple rice! So yummy! The recipes are really creative. A really sincerity from the writer, Kristen Feola, comes through in the book and in the devotions. Ill i can say, Im in love with this book. It has really been a blessing in my life! I even bought the Kindle version!

The BEST Daniel Fast book EVER!!!
My family and I have been on the Daniel Fast this year for nine days now for the 8th year in a row and I never had a Daniel Fast cookbook until I ordered this one a week ago. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I made at least 10 food items from this book this past week and ALL recipes came out AMAZING!! The oatmeal raisin cookies were really good, the Black Bean Dip is my FAVORITE (I'm going to make this A LOT from now on!!), the Black Bean Minestrone soup turned out really good, the corn muffins, EVERYTHING I made was delicious and ALL natural doing exactly what the Daniel Fast allows. This book is my favorite cook book now! I can't wait to make more recipes! I even posted photos of my cookies on Facebook and had people asking for the recipe! My 17 year old daughter really liked these cookies too which is shocking cause she rather eat an entire bag of skittles over eating a healthy cookie but she liked it a lot! I HIGHLY recommend this book for anyone wanting to do the Daniel Fast, eat a vegan lifestyle or just want to eat healthy with no meat, fish, sugar, white flour, etc. I also want everyone to know that I had a headache for 4 solid days at the beginning of the Fast because my body was full of toxins like sugar and caffeine but after 4 days I feel TERRIFIC and these foods make me feel like a million bucks!!! I haven't even had one single headache in 4 days which is UNBELIEVABLE!! I never go that long without a headache but getting rid of ALL sugars, meats, white flour, chips and junk food and just eaten foods from this cookbook has totally healed me!!!! Thank you Lord!!!! Now when the fast is over I just have to keep the sugars and caffeine down to a minimum and cook from the recipes in this book and if Iget anymore headaches I'm cutting the sugars and caffeine out completely!! Doing the Daniel Fast will give you the boost you need to cut out the foods that are greatly harming our bodies!! Good luck to all and don't forget to make the Black Bean Dip....so good!!!

This might be where the healing begins (the 21-day fast!)
The Ultimate Guide to the Daniel Fast has no secret formula on how to manipulate God to get what we want from Him; however, Mrs. Kristen does an absolute sensational job providing us w/ specific information on a closer walk w/ God as well as the nutritional value of this 21-day consecration. Paul says that "he disciplines himself so that when he has preached to others he himself will not be disqualified." 1Cor. 9:27. This book was instrumental in addressing the tangibles & intangibles of a spiritually & naturally successful life! My family has been blessed beyond measure (w/ a few days left) during this 21-day fast. When we get desperate enough, we will submit to the things of God & see things from His perspective. Get a copy of this book immediately! It will change your life in a positive way as it did mine. I am more motivated now than ever to not only increase my quiet time w/ God but to eat healthier & properly manage this temple (my body) in an effort to avoid the consequences of too much unhealthy eating (though it's so good to my tummy!) My wife miraculously observed her blood pressure supernaturally regulate itself w/o the medications she has taken for years! I feel better than I have felt in years & I'm praying that I don't return to self-destructive patterns of constantly eating foods high in cholesterol. We modified the recipes b/c we didn't have all the ingredients but they were still as if "heaven touched them!" I never liked grilled zucchini & squash until now! Also, I've never written such a long review! I just want you to be blessed & experience God in a new & living way. Thank you Kristen for this God-inspired book and for participating in the fast w/ us. I love your short YouTube clips & daily devotionals. Again, my friends if you desperately need to hear from God, The Ultimate Guide to the Daniel Fast (21-day fast) will not disappoint. Please be open to anything & all God has to say. HIS thoughts & ways far exceed our own & HE really loves all of us & each of us (as my pastor so eloquently puts it) & HE truly cares about our well-being! God bless!!!

Definitely, God inspired
After picking up a postcard announcing "The Ultimate Guide to the Daniel Fast" at a writers' conference, I ordered the Kindle version thinking it would be great to have with me at all times through the 21-day adventure. Let me say, I love this book. It's a guide for a spiritual fast and a cookbook forever. However, I cannot recommend the electronic version. Trying to skip back and forth between the recipes and devotions so frequently is a nuisance. Now, let me tell you why I highly recommend buying the book version. It is divided by introduction/explanation, daily devotionals, and the foods with meal plans and recipes for breakfast, appetizers/snacks, salads/dressings, soups, vegetables, main dishes, and juices. After reading Ms. Feola's thorough yet simple explanations of scriptural fasting in advance of my start date, per the recommendations, I prepared myself body, spirit, and soul--so much so, that when I began the fast I barely noticed the diet changes. Here are some of my favorites. Pumpkin-Black Bean soup with Spicy Pumpkin Seeds instead of crackers is delicious. Baked Oatmeal bars sound boring, but are easy to make and tasty, especially warmed with almond butter spread on top. Lentil-spinach "meatballs" with some Classic Tomato Sauce over whole-wheat spaghetti shocked the socks off my husband and me, although a bit trickier to make. The devotionals, although not as spiritually motivating, as I desired, were thought provoking and an essential ingredient for fasting. Kristen Feola's "The Ultimate Guide to the Daniel Fast" is an excellent guide for spiritual growth and healthier eating.
