An Exceptional Bible for the Price
This is a review for the Gift and Award edition of the KJVER. If you’ve ever owned a Gift and Award Bible from just about any Bible publisher, you know what to expect in terms of the construction. Small print to keep the text block under 1,000 pages, low-quality paper (but with minimal ghosting), and a thin cardboard cover made to look like faux leather. If small print and cheap material on an $8 gift Bible bothers you, save up to buy a leathertouch Super Giant Print Bible from Holman. The cover is a little different than the one shown in the picture for the sales page, but I prefer the one I received. My primary reason for buying this was that it features red letters in both the Old and New Testaments for direct quotes from God/Jesus. Present-tense instances are in red font, while past-tense instances are highlighted in red (see pics). Yes, the entire Bible is the inspired word of God, but featuring red letters in the Old Testament can be exceptionally useful when studying the books of Moses or the Prophets, as it’s often difficult to tell when a particular prophet is offering his own voice/point of view and when he is recording God speaking directly (this happens a lot in Isaiah, for example). I’ve been planning to highlight those direct instances of God’s voice when I get to a future Bible-readthrough, and I think this edition will be a great shelf resource for comparison. It also features limited footnote cross-references between the Old and New Testament for instances when passages from the Old are quoted or alluded to in the New. Most gift Bibles don’t include any footnotes, so I thought this was a nice feature. The “Easy Read” edits to the archaic KJV spelling seem fairly noninvasive - it still reads like the KJV, but I didn’t compare closely with another edition as I wasn’t purchasing for the translation. Overall I’m quite pleased with this Bible. It’s such a pleasant surprise to discover a red letter Old Testament for under $10.

Red letter in OT when God speaks; need new printings on better paper
Not all reviews here describe the same printing. The gift edition here has a stiff paper cover with a black, leatherlike shine. The font seems to me to 7. The main reason to buy this is that the Old Testament books have red letters when God is speaking. That really helps when reading Isaiah or Jeremiah. The gift edition paper just a little above newsprint grade - but that is okay if you want to read the OT books with the red letters and make notes. On the publisher's web site there are other printings with better binding and paper and other features such as the various names for God identified each time at the end of a verse. This demonstrates that both Elohim and Jehovah are used early in Genesis when the English translation is LORD or GOD. That matters since some skeptics claim there is a 100% switch from one in chapter 1 to the other name later. There are also underlined words with an explanation at the end of the verse (to help explain concepts) and archaic word forms like seeketh are changed to seeks, but otherwise this is the classic 1611 King James Version. Maybe some of those new, well-bound editions with the additional features can be added here to Amazon.

Terrible Product
Terrible product! Totally unreadable, print size probably 6.0 at best, pages are dark, paper is so thin pages easily tear, the cover is not leather-like but cardboard-like. I'm not going to waste my time to return it but throw it in the trash instead and consider the fact that you really do get what you pay for. Lesson learned!

NKJER Bible
This had the sayings of God in the Old Testament in red. Helps a lot when studying.

Good addition to the library
After a quick look-through this Bible is in good keeping with the KJB/KJV. So far nothing is changed other than what the printing house says. Thou becomes you, etc. "Antiquated" words are included and underlined and there is a note after the verse explaining the words. The leather feels soft but there are no ridges on the spine. The ribbon looks beautiful. Embossed sword and letters are clear and match the guilding of the pages. This Bible is printed in India so I was worried about missing pages or crumpled pages and so far upon first inspection everything seems in good order. I have had Bibles printed in India that were just terrible. As is the case with many fresh and new Bibles the pages may be slightly stuck together. Be aware of that and don't yank through the stuck pages too aggressively. India printers seem to have low or no Quality Assurance so always check your books from them very well. The paper.. it is thin and you can see the text on the opposite side and it is also not aligned with the opposite text. Its not terrible but is noticeable. You might not want to highlight this Bible even with Gel type highlighters. The text is nice and easy to read, however.Seems like a good addition to a Bible Study Library at home. I believe most people will find this Bible good and accurate. As a KJV only type, I had to see for my self if this would be something I could get onboard with and so far, I say YES.

Good Bible
I like what they did with replacing some words but not changing any thing important

I'd pay $5 more for better quality paper....
This Bible has some excellent features and awesome readability. I like the layout, but the text is a bit on the small size. The paper is too thin and not opaque enough. I understand the desire to meet a certain price point, but this Gift/Award edition deserves better more opaque paper and a thicker more robust cover. I'd happily pay $5 more for those upgrades. Hats off to the publisher for making this version of the KJVER available. I plan to get a higher quality edition of the KJVER once it is released.
